Question about Kenwood KAC-5204 350 Watt Max Power Stereo Amplifier with Variable LPF

1 Answer

Kenwood KM-208 150W/chan power amp is dead. Can't find owner's manual to locate the fuse. Can someone tell me where the fuse for this thing is? Where can I download a manual from a safe website? I tested the power cord by plugging in a CD player to the unswitched outlet on back, and it worked. When I tried the switched outputs neither of them worked when I pressed the power button, and nothing happened anywhere on the amp. That's as far as I could get with troubleshooting. The fuse is the obvious next step, but I can't find it. Is it under the cover somewhere?

SOURCE: Amp powers up (switchable) but has absolutely no output

If possible return the amp to the seller for a refund (before you tamper with it).

If that's not possible, the amp will need to be repaired. Do you want to try to repair it yourself?

For the head unit, you need to check the shield ground first. The following page will show you how to perform the test.

Where are the Quantum 600 Fuses Located?

With a gifted power wheelchair, the usual culprit is a pair of dead batteries usually size 22NF deep cycle batteries. The pediatric chair may have U-1 (35 amp hour batteries) There are fusible links connected to both batteries at the + terminal. There are additional fuses under the rear cover in booted holders in the belly area in the rear near the controller. These power take off harnesses are fused but probably do not relate to your primary dead battery problem. Remove the front cover of the base and pull out the battery tray. Remove the batteries, test, and replace.
The owner's manual can be found here. It also includes basic service. Hope this helps.

While it is always better to have the REAL documents...
(from Toyota... reading the OWNERS manual =good start).

BBB industries (plus technical service bulletins, pretty good)... and autozone have "SOME" popular
USA schematic drawings available on line...

Registration required for both...

The best thing to do is get the factory drawings.

Finding the fuses LOCATION: Owners manual:
Without the specific model & year it is difficult to say where your fuse would be... there is TYPICALLY a recess or storage slot between the steering wheel and the door that can be revealed
by pulling off the cover (FORCE NOTHING (read the manual)). drawings & locator

Kenwood ka 996 integrated amp. The standby light will dont turn off. I also need to see if someone will tell how everything should be hooked up.

the standby light should be on if the unit is not 'ON' if you want the 894 to turn on when you power up the 996, then you will have to plug the ac for the 894 into the 'switched' ac outlet on the back of the 996
what specific problems do you have with this system

Kenwood KM-209 Power Amp- wont power on

The KM-209 amp does have an impedance switch on the rear & if you are running a high load with multiple speakers connected to both A & B outputs you could be seriously damaging the amp. Look at all your speakers and see what impedance they run on (usually 4 or 8 ohms.) and switch the amp to the corresponding impedance.

Kenwwod DPX303 dead, Worked yesterday and today wont power on. Fuses are all OK . Hit the reset button no change. Any Ideas? Rgds R

There may be multiple fuse boxs in your car, you need to make sure to check all of them listed in your owners manual. Checking involves a voltmeter and not just checking the 2 fuses you think supply power to the radio, there may be multiple fuses that supply the necessary power to the radio. Yellow and red at Kenwood need to see 12 volt positive with the key on and the black needs to have ground in order to turn on. If all three have correct voltage then pull the harness from kenwood and check small 10 (red) or 15 (blue) fuse held in and protected by the harness. Good luck!

No power to fuel pump fuse 2000 beetle . car won't start,.changed fuel pump relay . No power to either leg of fuse 28, the fuel pump fuse. Can anyone tell me where fuse #2 a 50 amp fuse is located??

Most fuel injected cars have an "impact' switch that cuts power to the uel pump in the event of an accendt. It can trigger if the car has had some sort of impact. It is usally in the rear under a panel and it should be mentioned in your owners manual.
The 50 amp fuse will be in the power ditribution panel, which should also be in the owners manual... Lee

The Red & Black wires connected to my AMP touched

You blew the inline fuse on the AMP power wire. If it was not fused "inline" you may have blown a fuse internal to the amp. Look on the amp(or consult the manual) for the location of fuses "internal" to the amp.
