The main belt on my hoover model u6634-900 windtunnel keeps comming off the motor shaft

  • A list of things to check (unplug vacuum FIRST):
    1. All contact surfaces for belt are clean of build up, that can push belt in one direction
    2. Brush roller is not flip end for end (the pulley on the motor shaft should line up straight with the worn area of the brush roller).
    3. The guard on the bottom (covering the belt and brush sides) is clean and free of build up.
    4. The ends of the brush roller are free of build up and the bushings that slide in the end are inserted in the correct direction, this can cause the brush roller to set at an angle and cause the belt to slide in one direction.
    5. You have the correct replacement belt, I have found the wrong belt placed in the packaging for my vacuum at the factory once before (check manufacturers website).
    6. If the brush roller is extremely worn, it could be time to replace but this is very unlikely.
    7. Rotate the motor shaft by hand and see if there is any wobble, the pulley could be on crooked or bearing has failed causing slop in the motor shaft.

Hi marilynh57....
Try removing the fan blades and putting them into different positions.
This will sometimes solve your wobbling problem as some fan blades are heavier than others and this causes the wobble you experiance.

Beater bar in my dirt devil vision wobbles around the center shaft. Took of beater bar and it sounds like sand in it when shaken. Can this be disassembled?

from your description, if your beater bar was wobblying, ther may be more damage to the base of the vac than initially seen. Dirt Devil has different number of warranties in number of years for thier vacuums. I would check with your nearest dealer. Lookup at dirtdevil.com

My Miele S558 vacuum stops working about every 20 seconds (it used toi be every 45 secondsor so) I was told its probably a contact problem, and a replacement hose seems to be the resolution.

Make sure your bag is not full and your filters are clean and unblocked, could be over heating, hence cutting out.
Also test your mains lead, wobble it when its on at the plug and the body end to see if ts cuts out

Majestic filter queen vacums

Your belt is either stretched or the wrong size or the brush bushings are worn and allowing the brush to wobble or the motor is loose in its housing. You need to check all.
Rotate the brush and try to wobble it from the pulley end.
Flip the belt inside out, it if appears cupped, cracked or shiney and slips easily on and off the brush it is stretched. Generally this unit needs anew belt evrey 6 months, broken or not, they get hot and stretch. Do not buy a new belt by matching size, a worn belt can be 20-30% oversized and not broken but totally useless.
The motor shaft should be cleaned with W/D 600 grit sand paper. Motor should have no wobble in the shaft

How do I change the belt on my vacuum

Turn the carpet head upside down and look for visible screws at the front edge of the bottom plate. Inspect for others further back .Once removed the plate should hinge forward and separate from the base.
Clean burned rubber from motor shaft and spin brush roll when replacing belt to check for wobble or hair and fibre wound in to ends of brush.
