Question about Iomega 2TB ScreenPlay MX HD Media Player (35036)

Open Question

I have the Iomega 2TB Screenplay MX HD Media Player, I need to disassemble it to replace the power switch on the back (the only way I can add or remove files is through powering on the back). The answer given on your site about finding the four small holes on the bottom and finding screws did not work...I have the four small holes but there are no screws visable by me or a tech. Is there a technical manual available??? How do I get this box open??

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

SOURCE: Iomega Screenplay Pro HD - No Menu

I had the same problem with the Screenplay Pro HD. My Iomega was working fine and one day after exchanging files with a friend I got the logo, then the loading message and then it went into a black screen while the blue light kept blinking.
Obviously the connection to the TV was fine because the logo appeared.
I solved the problem by downloading and reinstalling the firmware.
I downloaded the firmware from the iomega web site.
Notice that during the installation process you get the message that it will delete your data and then shortly after you have the option to delete or keep it. Hang in there. This part is a little nerv wrecking.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: No sound through Iomega Pro HD on the TV, but works on laptop

I have a similar problem. When I first used it, it was OK but one day after a week or so, I've lost sound. When I put the volume of the TV to the maximum, I can hear it but it is still faint. Another problem/dissatisfaction I have is that the high resolution pictures are not displayed as good as my similar resolution PC monitor. I am dissapointed in that regard but I will still keep the device if I can fix the sound. I will call the tech support tomorrow.

SOURCE: Iomega Screenplay Pro HD Multimedia Drive works on PC but not on

If the blue light continues to flash after the screen goes black, then you need to reinstall the firmware. Look at for information about getting the firmware and installing it.

If the blue light goes solid after the screen goes black then you probably just need to switch the NTSC/PAL selection. Press that button on the front panel several times, waiting a few seconds inbetween in press. If it continues to be invisible, plug the drive into another TV using the composite cables instead of HDMI to confirm if the menu comes up at all. If it does, reinstall the firmware.

Screenplay hd doesnt show files in it

Are the files "hidden"? If the PC does not see the files, what device did you use to load the files into the Iomega MX? Try going back to the file-source and right-click on them, select 'properties'-> undo 'hidden' check-box. This may fix it.

How can I disassemble iomega screenplayer MX

It has 4 small holes at the bottom. Inside you will find screws. Try opening it gently, don't pry it too hard.
Drilling holes in the hull may actually help evacuate extra hot air. Try to identify the internal parts of Iomega that heat up the most, and drill holes directly above them, so the hot air convects up and out.

How do i connect my iomega screnplay director for the first time?

First Time Setup: 1. Connect the power supply to the ScreenPlay Director and an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) or power outlet. 2. Press the power button on the front of the ScreenPlay Director to turn it on. 3. Turn on your TV and change the input setting as needed to receive input from the ScreenPlay Director. 4. When the ScreenPlay Director setup wizard appears on the TV screen, select your language and the TV screen aspect ratio, then configure your network connection. Refer to the user's manual if you need additional instructions. NOTE: If you wish to skip the network configuration during first time setup, you can add it at a later time using Settings from the ScreenPlay Director home menu. See the user's manual for detailed instructions. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you need any other information about your device, I would suggest looking at the user's manual as it will pretty much answer any other questions you have about your device.
