Question about Locks & Locksmithing

Open Question

I have a larson storm door with a Intevia 6101LM lockset, it will program, but will NOT LOCK. It appears the manual release down under the escutcheon is the problem. It is very 'loose and sloppy' and appears in manual unlock mode.

SOURCE: I have a larson storm

I have reviewed the programming & installation instructions and nowhere is your particular situation described. For your convenience, here is the link to online instructions:

http://www.larsondoors.com/files/etouch-user-guide.pdf

Notice that the above is a .pdf filetype. That means that you need to have Adobe Reader or similar installed on your computer to view it. So if you are unable to view the file, download (for free) and install Adobe Reader first. You can get it here:

http://get.adobe.com/reader/
Note what the instructions have to say about the batteries:
"4 AAA Energizer Lithium batteries are required to
maximize battery life and performance at temperature
extremes. AAA alkaline batteries
are not recommended and should not be used."

So, I recommend contacting Larson Door Customer Service and allow them to help you with this problem.

I'm going out on a limb and guessing that this is the model number and instruction sheet for your lock. It may take a few seconds to load:

What is the comparison between an Anderson Storm door and a Larson Storm door?

Without knowing specific doors, what criteria are important to you, and without doing a lot of research there is no way to answer that question. Have a Intevia keyless lock set model 6101LM, have changed the batteries and lock set will work for couple of minutes. After that unit will not work

What happens when you change the batteries again? Maybe those were faulty batteries? Also, there might be a short that is draining the batteries quickly. Are the batteries warm to the touch when you remove them?

I MESSED AROUND WITH ONE OF THESE LOCKS ON A LARSON STORM DOOR LAST SUMMER. IT ATE LITHIUM BATTERIES FASTER THAN I COULD BUY THEM. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND REMOVE THE LOCKSET, LIMBER UP YOUR ARM AND THROW IT AS FAR AS YOU CAN. CALL THE FACTORY AND TELL THEM YOU WANT A MANUAL LOCKSET FOR YOUR DOOR. I DID THIS LAST FALL AND HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS SINCE!
