Question about Whirlpool LEQ8000JQ Electric Dryer
Check the wheels that the tub is resting on for poor lubrication. Try to lift up the tub with something you can pry with. Just enough to take the weight off the wheel, one at a time and then turn by hand the wheel and see if it/they are dragging or jammed.
If you find one or more wheels jammed or dragging, then replace it/them and you should be good to go.
While you have your dryer all twisted and partially dismantled, take a few moments and clean out the LINT DUCT all the way from the TUB to ALL THE WAY outside the home. Damp lint does not move very well and if it has been collecting for months or years you could be clogging your dryer drum wheels, and/or the belt that turns the drum and setting yourself up for a nasty fire in your dryer, that could easily burn down your home. You may have to reroute your hose if you find ANY PLACE that the hose goes up hill or has a bunch of turns in it. Make sure the Duct is level, or slightly slopped down, and keep your turns to the very minimum. Changin direction of a Lint Duct might look cool, but every turn will cut your air flow by 40 percent. Does not take long for the lint to build up, and spark a fire and then it will get really unfriendly around your dryer.

Hi, You will need to replace the coils on top of the gas valve.
There is a small plastic cap that you can remove in the lower front panel. Start the dryer and see if the ignitor glows and shuts off before the gas ignites. If this is the case, the coils need replaced. This is a very common issue with the gas dryer.
Here is how to change the coils:
UNPLUG the dryer. This model you need to remove the two screws under the lint screen. Now use a flat blade screw drive and insert it in the gap between the top and the front panel and pry the top up. Now locate and remove the screws on the inside of the front panel in upper corners. The front should lift off. You will see the two black coils on the gas valve. When you remove the three wire coil, make sure the sleeve inside it gets put back on the post the coils slides onto.
If I can assist you further, please let me know.

So,. basically your drum doesnt turn. SO your getting heat still even though the drum isnt turning. Is this right? Sounds strange??? Do you hear any humming noise when you push the start button? I need to know a little more about the problem because im kinda confused as how you decribed the problem. Iv never seen a dryer heat but the drum not spinning. especially your model dryer. Its electric heat right? because if the drum doesnt spin, maybe your motor is bad. and if your motor is bad, then your heating element wont heat up because the centrifical switch in the motor is not switching to complete the circuit to the heating element. So this is why im confused when you said" Dryer heats when knob turned but when "push button" pressed, drum doesnt run." Because your belt wraps around the motor pully and the motor is what makes the drum turn. Like i said, i never seen this model dryer heat with out the motor operating. So if you can give me some more info, ill do my best to help you out....Thanks!!!!

Could just be a matter of wires coming loose. The movement and vibration of the spinning could have shaken wires loose. look for any wires not connected to anything.
