My Hotpoint Fridge/Freezer only works with the freezer at the bottom and the fridge is fed from the freezer via ducting to the fridge at the top ---- can anyone tell me why the freezer works perfectly and...

There has to be something restricting the air flow to the fridge. If the fan is running blowing cold air into the freezer, then it should be cooling the fridge too. Empty out the fridge and freezer and use a blow drier to blow hot air into the duct work. There could be an ice blockage not visible in the duct work.

The air vent keeps coming unattached from both the machine and the window vent

There's 4 things that could cause the problem:

1. The hose clamps are loose.
2. The duct hose(s) is over stretched.
3. The duct hose(s) is under stretched and water/humidity is accumulating in the slope of the hose,
creating unnecessary weight.
4. An obstruction in the hose(s) or exterior duct termination, causing back pressure in the hose

If you have any doubts about the proper installation of the hose duct, consult your Owner's Manual.

Hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem..

Why condensation on out side of my freezer

Hi,
This condition is telling your that your freezer insulation is deteriorated or even leaks causing outside air contact to your freezer. By visual check the leaks, if you found, laminated it by using HVAC insulation like duct tape, PU foam etc. For best is to replace all insulation of your freezer.

The Freezer works, but the Fridge does not.

There could be block in the cold air duct which comes from the freeezer. Since your freezer is working fine there should not be major issues . Hence check for the duct to be blocked, reduce the settings for the fridge or if it is a common settting make the freezer settings to mid point. If no frost model check if the fan is working and blowing fine the cool air to the fridge area. If not open fromthe freezer and clearr the duct. This will solve your issue. Good day

Fridge/Freezer combo - Freezer working fine but fridge is not

There is a duct between the freezer and refrigerator. Sometimes this duct blocks off with ice and won't allow airflow. Open your refrigerator door and check for air flow if there is none the duct needs to be defrosted. turn off freezer/ refrigerator and defrost.

Freezer working fine but fridge isn't

Either the damper that the air flows up through is closed or the return air flow vents are blocked with clear ice.

Do you feel the air come out all the way at the top of the duct assembly when the freezer door is opened (but it then stops when the door is closed)?

If so, then it sounds like your return air flow vents are clogged. These are located to the left and right of the duct assembly in the rear/bottom of the refrigerator section. Sometimes you may have to slowly pour hot water into these vents to get the clear ice to thaw. The water should go down into the freezer section behind the evaporator and then out the drain in the back.

If you do not get the air to flow out the top of the duct assembly then the damper is staying shut. This could be either a bad damper in the duct assembly or the main board my not be sending voltage to the damper. Hope this helps.

The freezer part works, but the refrigerator side is set on the coldest setting, but not cooling.

There are a lot of reports of this problem with this model. Some of the things to check are the coils in the freezer sextio to make sure they are not iced over. With the compressor running, push the freezer switch and make sure the fan at the back of the freezer compartment is working. There is a duct in the upper right that allows cold air from freezer into fridge, these often freeze up or the trap door spring falls off closing this passage. In the fridge side is a return air duct, I have seen some models where the factory left tape in this duct that reduces air flow. There is a possibility the bulb is staying on although this is remote.

In short this is a poorly designed product and there are a multitude of similar symptoms with different solutions.
