Metz 58 af-2 won't fire with battery pack. When I turn on the battery pack the flash goes on goes off tries to go on again then off. I may get one or two flashes but that is it. No problem with normal batteries. The pack worked fine with a previous version of the same flash. At one point I accidentally left the batteries in with the pack plugged in and fired three shots. After this the problem started. Any suggestions?

If you hear rattling or a grinding sound/feel .. can be flash tubes broken.

take a silver paper and put in front of the slave censer when you take the photo flash on camera as master should go on silver paper OR used slaveunit

Metz 58 AF with Nikon d90 wont flash
Hi, Bad news for you.

Try this.
  1. put new batteries in flash.
  2. turn flash on off camera.
  3. listen for capacitor to squeal (high pitched whistle). If you hear it it is charging. If not capacitor is bad.
  4. Also should see flash ready light come on. If it does not same as #3 above.
  5. If you pass #3 & 4# above press manual flash/check/test button on flash. No flash means bulb is out. It can be replaced.

Metz 58 - broken
Take out batteries
Put in 4 new Energizer Lit. Bat in.
Turn on flash
Wait for the ready ready, fully charged
Press the test button out.
Flash should be able to be fired.
