Question about Bushnell Pinseeker 1500 Rangefinder

Open Question

Battery does not make good contact with silver contacts. it looks like the silver looking contacts, where the terminals on the battery hit, are too low and need to be "pulled up". How do I fix this?

I have a 1999 Harley Davidson dyna super glide hit a big bump an it shut down and won't start now what should I be looking for

Start with the electrics. Do the lights, speedo, etc "come on" when the key is turned to on? Go to the battery, are the cables connected tightly and not touching anything else? (it is a good idea to remove each cable, clean and re-attach, to ensure good contact). If electrics come up, but the started doesn't turn, check connections to starter, fuses etc. If it spins but wont start, check fuel supply, petcock etc.
It is possible that when you hit the bump (if it was big enough) that the battery moved and hit the frame or something and shorted (blowing a fuse perhaps) So if none of the electrics come up, go to fuses, battery connections, etc. You can also look for signs near the battery that it in fact contacted some metal and shorted. This should get you headed in the right direction.

Violet wont turn on

One thing to check, especially if you are replacing batteries, is for corrosion on the terminals. I just replaced batteries in my daughter's Violet, and it wasn't working. When I looked closer, I found a couple of the terminal contacts had corrosion (looks like rust). I took a few Q-Tips with some white vinegar to clean them up until I could see metal on the contacts again. After putting the batteries back in, it worked fine.

New tledd-40fhd telefunken remote wont work

Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Clean the battery contacts in the battery compartment, to make it a good contact with battery terminals. Look for any dust or rust accumulated. Clean it well with an emery paper. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

I have a 2006 C220 CDi , my engine turns off when I hit pothole, I think it is a loose contact in the wiring......please tell where to look for the loose connection.....

Look for a loose/ dirty battery terminal. Check for loose fusible links next to the battery. Check for loose battery earth wire.

It2004 rav4 wont start or crank even battery is newly replaced

My '01 Rav4 with 150k would not crank intermittently. Turns out the silver-plated neutral safety switch contacts (on the front of the transmission housing) were worn out down to the copper. Copper makes a poor switch contact because it oxidizes and makes intermittent contact. The 'jiggle the shift lever' test does not apply due to the way the switch is built. Since the replacement switch is over $200 I investigated (for the mechanically apt only!) by:
  • got screws and Nylock nuts to reassemble the case afterwards
  • take pictures of how it is mounted on the front of the ****** before dismounting it
  • cut the heads off the aluminum rivets
  • opened the switch up (careful to save all the tiny pieces)
  • it looks like a windshield-wiper arm inside with 3 sliding switch wipers that move across contacts. The contacts are silver plated copper and it had worn through the silver on half of each contact, plus there was black grease in there. I:
  • Q-tipped the black grease out, leaving the yellow grease
  • rotated the contacts 180 degrees which (on this particular switch) put it back to silver-on-silver
  • spread the yellow grease around
  • closed it back up using Nylock nuts and screws (if this falls apart you will be stuck!)
No problems so far after 6+ months.

Turn on ignition hit the start button and all indicator lights go out,and does not start

First check to be certain that the battery is fully charged
Next, be certain the battery terminals are clean and tight. Don't just look at them, disconnect the cable from the battery and clean the contact surfaces with a wire brush. They should be tight enough so that you cannot easily twist them by hand.
If you still have a problem, locate where the ground wire coming from the battery is connected. to the engine or frame Disconnect it and clean the contact surfaces, then replace it and tighten the connection.
The type of problem you describe is usually caused by poor ground, however if you still have a problem (after disconnecting the ground cable from the battery) trace the positive wire from the battery to its connection and be certain it is clean and tight.
Let us know that solve your problem

Unit will not start with new batteries no matter what setting.

Remove the batteries and try to clean your battery terminals inside your battery compartment with a q-tip and isopropyl alcohol along the silver contacts. These contacts eventually get
dirty at some point and needs to be cleaned. Wait till it dries. If you have a can of air duster, use it to spray air inside battery terminal to speed up drying process. If it still doesn't power on then
you have some sort of electrical short or electrical problem

Remote control doesn't work despite new batteries

Make sure battery compartment terminals are clean and making good contact. If not, you can sometimes use a small hook to stretch out the springy negative terminals a bit so they "bite" into the battery a little harder. Many times that is enough to get the remote operational. You can also help things along a little bit by wedging a small piece of folded paper or other insulator on top of the batteries and then putting the battery compartment door back on. This sometimes is enough to force a battery into better contact with the terminals.
If all else fails, I suggest looking into a universal remote and setting that up to run everything.
