I assume you mean the gear sprockets on the rear hub. If its a Shimano type, the most important thing is to place each sprocket on with the tooth markings OUTWARDS. Other than that, big one first, small one last. Tighten the locknut.

most chain saw chain sprockets are either 1/4 or 3/8" pitch
in your case I would suspect it is 3/8 pitch
measure the distance between the link pins ( not the teeth but the pivot pins of the chain itself )
after that the sprocket will be available as a generic sprocket from any chain saw shop or mower shop
Talons went bust but are being reproduced under a new brand name ( ozito I think)

I'm gonna change my rear sprocket and front sprocket and chain how can I make sure it's gonna be done proper


Hi Jake if you have the right tools it will be no trouble. Before you remove the rear wheel remove the front sprocket cover and loosen the nut or nuts holding the front sprocket. This will be safer than doing it with the r/wheel off. Next remove the wheel and keep note as to where the spacers go (don't mix them up!) remove the sprocket nuts and the sprocket. Again note which way the sprocket goes some have a thinner center so make sure the new one fits the same way. Refit the wheel leave it loose and loosen the adjusters allowing the wheel all the way forward. Then open the chain and join the new chain to the end of the old one with the link supplied then pull the old chain until the new one is fitted. Next join the new chain together. ( you may need to remove a link or two) it will depend on the length of the new chain. After this fit the new f/sprocket and tighten the nut then adjust the chain leaving 1.5inches of free play up and down. Make sure the adjusters sre even on the marks each side. And finaly After a day or two of use adjust again to around 1 inch up and down. Have fun. Regards Jim...

Husqvarna 50 chain keeps coming off


Are you adjusting the chain tension correctly?? Make sure the bar in installed correctly with the tension adjustment pin in the appropriate hole. Elevate the tip of the guide bar while adjusting the chain adjustment screw until the chain is snug but not tight. Then tighten the bar bolts without lowering the tip of the bar. Also ensure the drive links are engaging the sprocket correctly.

If the chain is adjusted correctly and the problem still exists, remove the sprocket side cover, bar and chain and inspect the sprocket for extreme wear. Once the sprocket is worn excessively it won't want to engage the drive links of the chain correctly which could be the source of the problem. If so, replace both the sprocket and the chain because the excess wear of the sprocket could have damaged the drive links of the chain and putting an old worn chain back on with a new sprocket will cause the new sprocket to begin wearing prematurely.

How to put a chain on a 250 trailblazer 250 every time i get it on the master link pops right back off i have litterly went through at least 15 20 links in the past day and a half!!! HELP


Assuming you put on the J-clip properly and you have a new chain, it has to be unequal forces on the chain causing it to torque one direction and putting a lateral force on the J-clip making it pop off. Try turning the chain around and putting the J-clip on the right side of the chain instead of the left. Also make sure your drive and rear sprocket are inline and not offset from the centerline. If the sprockets are even a 1/2 inch out of line it compresses one side of the chain more than the other side and causes lateral force on the chain. Make sure chain is tight and that sprockets teeth aren't too worn

66 L6 200. Are the timing marks easy to see? I just did this last week on our 66 block. Just bring it to TDC on #1. Remove the pulley/dampner and the timing cover bolts. Remember to remove the front oil pan bolts to the timing cover.
I use an impact wrench on the cam bolt while holding the crank bolt so I don't slip out of TDC. You'll then have to remove the oil slinger. It just slips off the keyway on the crank snout. Carefully pry the cam sprocket to start wiggling it off the cam. Both the cam and crank sprockets are "keyed".
Get the new sprockets and chain aligned with their marks. Slip the crank sprocket on first until the cam sprocket needs mounted. Just remember to hold the crank, cam sprocket, and chain as an assembly when mounting. Once you get the cam sprocket started, start threading the bolt to hold it in place. Tap light a rubber mallet to seat it further on the end of cam.
I would then remove the cam bolt and coat it lightly with thread-loc and then thread it back in. You don't want it backing out later when your driving down the road. ( don't ask how I know). Remember to put the oil slinger back on.
Your Engine has an oil slinger.

Can you change tranny gears to decrease rpm's on highway? Or maybe change sprockets.


You can add teeth to the front sprocket or take teeth off of the rear sprocket. In the case of your bike , I do not think there is a 17 tooth front available so your best option would be to shorten your chain and drop from the 44 tooth rear sprocket to 40 tooth or a 36 tooth rear sprocket. That would be like adding one or two teeth to the front sprocket. Your stock is 16/44 so decrease from there. Be sure to ID your chain, get a chain breaker, and a new master link.

I got new sporkets and wanna put them on the cahins off but i cant put any power to the front spindel cause it moves what do i do ?


are you trying to replace the sprockets? you can't get the nut off because it spins? just put the bike in gear and remove the front gear first, leave the chain on until after the nut is loose. also "make sure you flatten out the nut lock first".

Make sure the #1 Cylinder is at TDC, then install the cams so that both the intake and exhaust valves are closed, then there should be holes in the sprocket to line up with the heads. line up the holes and put some small bolts in them to hold 'em.

There is a very good possibility that the timing is 180 degrees out. Verify that the number one cylinder is firing on the compression stroke. I 've had this happen to me in the past when I first started building performance engines. The "School of Hard Knocks" was a very tough teacher, if ya know what I mean.

I would look there before going anywhere else.

Changing timing belt


LINE THE POINT ON THE CAMSHAFT SPROCKET WITH THE DIMPLE IN THE HEAD, THEN THERE WILL BE A NOTCH IN THE CRANKSHAFT SPROCKET THAT LINES UP WITH THE NOTCH RIGHT ABOVE IT, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIND IT! MAKE SURE IT IS THE SPROCKET AND NOT THE PULLEY CAUSE IF I REMEMBER RIGHT THEY AREN'T THE SAME.
