that sounds like a broken spider that's what holds the drum i think that model is a sealed drum so you cant get to put a new one on if you want to take the lid off and if you can see bolts screws or clips holding the plastic drum together if it has any of them the it can be stripped down to take the drum out but you will find if its just a spider then its going to cost around 50 to 60 pound if its a sealed drum where the spider is pop rivet to the drum then you will need to by a drum complete with spider big job i'm not joking OK if you need more help get back to me OK

I have a LG wm2277hw washing machine. the drum will spin a little and then make a scaping sound like friction. The drum has a lot of play in it. Is there a hard plastic washer or shim that wears out. The...

The symptoms that you describe sound like the spider or support arms of your washer has failed. It the part that holds the wash drum true in the plastic tub. It's a rather difficult job to replace the spider since the washer has to be taken apart to get to the spider. Fortunately, LG does sell the spider, instead of making you buy a new spider and drum. You may need to also replace the plastic tub parts if they are too damaged to be reused. Get a few estimates before deciding whether to repair or replace.

It sounds like the spider arm supports in your washer has failed. The spider arms hold the stainless steel wash drum to the axle. You need to stop using the machine immediately since the wash drum is flopping around the plastic tub. It is an expensive fix. The replacement drum/spider can cost over $300 with shipping. Get a few estimates before deciding whether to repair or replace. Sorry.

Loud banging noise looks like the drum is off set and it damaged the rubber in the front

If the inner wash drum is sagging when it is empty, it probally means that the support arms that hold the drum has failed. If you turn the drum by hand and if you hear any kind of banging noise or the drum wobbles more that a fraction of an inch, then the support or spider arms are broken.

You can't buy the spider arms seperately and must buy a drum and spider as one unit. The cost to repair would be in the hundereds. See the following link to judge for yourself if you want to fix it yourself or have it fixed. http://www.fixya.com/support/t4267953-spiderarm

Machine (LG wm1280 7kg)works fine except drum wont roatae

You can repair it, but it really needs to be done by a qualified technician. What has very possibly happened, is the spider assembly has snapped that connects to the drum (that's the noise you heard).. The drum has now collapsed. Different machines open differently. The later ones have plastic outer frames, and when the "spider arm"collapses, it eats large chunks out of the drum internally. It in my opinion is not then worth the repair. For the older ones, one needs to remove drive belt and pulley then strip front of machine to enable you to open it up. This will let you then remove the inner drum. Inspect spider assy. and see if actually broken. (I'm sure it is.) Phone agents for replacement parts which will be 2 bearings and a seal and the spider assembly.Install and reassemble.

I have a Kenore Elite 110.45992400 and it is thumping when it spins and the drum feels loose when you try to move it around. I've been reading, I gather this is the tub/bearing assembly? What is the spider...

The drum bearing is located at the back of the drum, and it is held by a drum spider.

This is the drum spider:

The drum spider is attached to drum on one side, and on the other it has the drum bearing.

Front load washer loud noise and drum loose but not dropped

Spider arms attached to stainless steel drum inside of tub have probably broken. This is a known problem with Frigidaire front loading washing machines. The stainless steel drum has a 25 year warranty but this does not include the spider arms. You cannot buy the spider arms separately, you have to buy the unit as one. The drum cost about $250.00 and probably about $300.00 in labor to install. You can do it yourself but it is pretty involved. Good Luck!

Bearings on a indest wie 167 washing machine

You can download a user manual for your m/c, but not a repair manual, Go to>
www.indesit .co.uk
Follow the links. To remove the spider, remove the rear panel, remove drum belt, undo drum pulley, you may have to heat the screw holding the pulley, undo all screws that you can see holding the spider to drum rear.
Withdraw spider, you may have to use some force to pull it off.
Fit new bearings or spider, and reassemble..

Off balance, loose drum?

If your machine produces a lot of banging noises when in a permanent press final spin you may be experiencing a broken spider. It is a part which is not made from stainless steel metal, but attached to a stainless still drum (tub spin). So, when it is soaked in water all the time during a normal operation of a washer it creates a galvanic element between a stainless still drum and itself. This results in severe corrosion of the "spider" and then leads to it's breakage. To check if you have a broken "spider" open the door of the washer and try to kick your internal drum back and forward while rotating it slowly. If you will hear clicking noises (metal to metal) in some position of the drum it means that your spider is broken. The replacement of this spider will require complete disassemble of the drum. Most likely you will end up replacing this whole part
Drum assembly, spin basket Part # 131618500Another way is get just a spider part, it's doable, but may be tricky.
Cheers!
