....... these can be very tricky. You need to apply the right amount of pressure in the right place`in the right sequence. Do it wrong and you can damage the cover!

How do i remove cover

Lots of screws, then lots of clips to break off when removing the shells, then lots of fine cables to damage. Then a very big repair bill.

Save yourself a headache and a lot of money. Get it looked at by a trained Brother or Babylock tech. Brother makes Babylock machines so getting it serviced by a Brother shop because Babylock shops pay roughly 30% more for parts than Brother shops.

Brother LS-2000 machine with the up thread not keeping a good tension. Is it possible to remove the plastic cover on the up thread spring to check for lint ?

I have a newer brother too. I suspect the case is put together much like a laptop or game console is these days. But before I would go that far... maybe try "flossing" it with a piece of light canvas or denim folded double. ;)

Brother Sewing Embroidery Machine

I agree with sylviaivie about find another repairman, they are suppose
to guarantee the work they do.
when the upper shaft is replaced & then the machine is retimed
the machine should work just fine.
but just don't take it back to that man to be repaired
here is a tip if it happens again,,
always try to cut the top thread first,
& turn the machine up on it's back to access the bottom cover
take the cover off the bottom to get access to the bobbin thread
where you can cut the bobbin thread
then you should be able to get the needle out without breaking it &
damaging the upper shaft, replace the needle & make sure
that the thread is good quality & not knotty, clean out the bobbin area of lint or thread
always change the needle on the embroidery machine every project
make sure the bobbin area is kept clean of lint or thread
clean under the needle plate at least once a week for lint if you
embroidery everyday or just often

My wife has a Brother XL-2027 sewing machine, Does anyone know where we can download a free copy of the owners handbook or users manual...

You can usually download free manuals from the Brother site.
http://www.brother-usa.com/manuals/default.aspx?PGID=3
I couldn't find a manual for the XL2027 but I did find one for the XL3027.
http://www.brother-usa.com/ModelDocuments/Consumer/Users%20Manual/UM_XL_3025_3027_3030_EN_447.PDF
Also the nearest XL model number listed was the XL2121
http://www.brother-usa.com/ModelDocuments/Consumer/Users%20Manual/UM_XL_2121_EN_245.PDF
Worth looking at these two manuals to see if they are similar to your machine.
You could try contacting Brother (see the first link) as they may be able to help you find the exact manual for your machine.
Hope this helps!

Hook not picking the thread

If you need to retime the machine and you can't get to the raceway you will need to take the body apart which is not easy because therfe are plastic lugs on the inside that you can't see, break them and you are in trouble.

Breaking threads... you so about an inch and it

It sound like it is not threaded properly or the tension is too tight, You should be able to pull on the thread manually without breaking it
look for your manual here

Sewing machine circuit breaker

Sorry I have not seen that particular model brother here in Australia, however i have worked on and gone through training on similar looking models (training provided by Brother)
First off, whats the supply voltage difference? USA being 110V at the outlet, what does Ireland use? if not +/- 5% you will need a way of converting whats available at the outlet to what your machine wants (this could explain why it went "...bum..." to start with?

Also this machine will not use a breaker, A fuse is a hell of a lot cheaper, so you are looking for a glass tube fuse, likely about 12mm long.
Getting this machine will not be easy for you with out damaging it.
you will need to remove the light cover (one screw at the back typicly), there will be a bunch other screws in the back, and a few in around the bobbin area, and a few that where hidding under the light unit cover. Then while upside down, take the base plate off (if one) and firmly pry the front and back covers apart from the bottom. pressing at the join inside the free arm area to break the seal, the covers will then need to be taken as far apart as much as you can till you think it is about to break. Then hit it apart very firmly with the palm of your hand, you will hear a loud crack as it comes apart, this is normal. And if you missed a screw, you will need to replace the covers as you would have just broken it.

Best leave it to a pro if you value the machine.

My sewing machine has slipped its timing how do i fix it

take it to the shop or buy a good used machine from local dealer.
To repair it it has to be taken apart, the front cover must come off and if you are not experienced at this you will either break it or think you are breaking it
