If you can take a picture of the back of the router where the antenna connects that would be helpful. Most times the antenna just unscrews by turning it counter clockwise.

SOURCE: forgot password for d-link dsl-2640r broad b

Are you looking for the wireless password or the password of the router?
If you want the password of the router, then try the default password of the router. If the default password doesn't work then you will need to reset the router and reconfigure the router.
If you are looking for the wireless network password, then you will need to open the set up page of the router. Is there any computer connected to the router ? If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router. Or any other computer which is able to go online using the router. Check the IP address on that computer. open the set up page of the router. Set up page of the router is the page where you will find all the settings of the router. under the wireless section you will find the wireless network password
Click here for more information about the routers and wireless network.

I want to attch higher gain antenna to my Linksys router WRT54N. My existing antenna is not the detachable type. What should I do?

I believe you are trying to strengthen the signal of your wireless router. Unfortunately replacing the antenna does not work for these types of devices. What you need is a repeater. This will repeat the signal of your router and is typically installed farther from the router so that you will be able to extend the signal and reach places your router is not normally able to reach. If I may recommend a device, try this one out: Jefa Tech Long Range Wifi Repeater Kit. Check our the link to know more about the specification. According to the link, it can handle both wireless g and n.

One of my friend in my neighborhood using netgear wifi router when i connect with that performance vise netgear seems 2 b better is thr any setting to enhance the performance .... we both r using airtel...

To enhance performance is to enhance signal strength which can be accomplished with a repeater or an ACCESS POINT router with detachable antenna.

THen you can connect an omnidirection or bidirectional antenna which will enhance the signal.

You can check TP-Link products. Their routers are with detachable antenna. They have a grid antenna which is like a bid dish for detecting signals.

God Bless You!

Netgear antenna

The short answer is, it's not detachable unless you crack open the router. If you're comfortable with soldering and electronics, you can try what this guy did. Check "John Woo Fan"'s comments at this link:

Using the DI-624 as a bridge

I don't think it can. An inexpensive wireless access point will work as a bridge. I use the TP Link brand with detachable antenna.

http://www.tplink.com/products/product_des.asp?id=116

Using the terms using the dlink router as bridge you get results of people who claim it can't be done because of firmware. The same question on the D-Link help site mentions DL to DL bridges, but not with the 624.

Attaching gigaware antenna kit to linksys wrt54g wireless router

Versions 8.0 and above for this router DO NOT have detachable antenna.
You will NOT be able to detach the antenna on any wrt54g that has a serial number that begins with the following:
CDFF
CDFG
MDF0 CDFJ
A trend with any linksys router model is earlier versions are better (more RAM, linux os, faster chip, detachable antenna, etc), later models are exercises in cost cutting to deliver the 'same' specs on the box.
