    Thanks very much !

One more thing to ask, Ive heard that you can use a 20 pin ATX power connecter on a 24 pin mobo, anyone know if this is true ?

Reason for asking is because my PSU has a 20 pin ATX power connecter !

    Thanks

Yes, VIA VT8237A (stay as south bridge on your mobo) support ATA133. You can use upto two IDE/ATAPI devices.

Some mobo with ATX-24pin can work with PSU ATX-20pin (to ex. more Asus, Abit), some can`t (to ex. Gigabyte, Epox, etc).
If you will use voracious CPU (and/or videocard) - strongly recommended replace to new ATX-24pin PSU 350W (high-quality) and higher (for not high-quality PSUs).

Good day sir how do i connect a 500gig sata drive to a mother board ms 7142

Dear User, Good day, This is the specification of your motherboard. MSI K8MM-V Via Socket 754 MicroATX Motherboard / Audio / 8x AGP / 10/100 Ethernet LAN / USB 2.0 / Serial ATA. All you need is sata cables and an adapter if the power supply cable support only serial IDE. check this link for the photo of the adapter. http://www.buy.com/prod/ide-to-serial-ata-sata-for-3-5-hdd-pc-adapter-converter/q/sellerid/23962916/loc/101/214950013.html

Will a Quantum Fireball hdd replace a Sata hdd. Both are 3.5 and 5/12v or do you need to re configure them?

SATA (serial ATA) is a connection type, not a brand of hard drive. Any brand of hard drive will replace any other, as long as they are both SATA drives. The data and power connections are standard between drives, as are mounting dimensions. Normally, with SATA drives there are no jumpers or other configuration you need to deal with. Each SATA drive has its own connection to the motherboard, so you don't need to set master/slave jumpers like you would on the parallel ATA drives using the wide data cable.

Can i use a sata hard drive with my ga 7vklm mobo

The Gigabyte GA-7VKMP motherboard does not support serial ATA SATA drives. Open the link provided; http://tw2005.giga-byte.com/Motherboard/Products/Products_GA-7VKMP.htm
2 x ATA 66/100/133 bus master IDE ports
1 x FDD, 2 x HDD and 1 x CD audio input
IrDA(1x5) and COM2 on board
GBT standard front panel
2 x USB2.0 connectors (support 4 ports by cable)

You can connect the adapter below to an opened IDE port and connect a SATA 1.5 drive to your system.
http://www.satagear.com/SATA-MM-A1_SATA_Adapter.html
This should allow you're SATA drive to transfer data faster than the 133MHz standard IDE speed.

Cheers'

Suport hdd sata intel d865gbf?

The Intel D865GBF motherboard.
Supports 2 Serial ATA (SATA) connectors, see page 39 in your manual.
The serial ATA SATA ports will support Version 1.5GBs SATA drives not 300GBs
If you no longer have your manual, download it from Intel. Click on the link below;

Does this have a SATA connection for a SATA HDD

I cant find specs or a good big pic so I can see it, the sata jacks are similar in appearance to usb potrs, on the Motherboard they are usually clumped together (If there's more than one), If it doesn't have them you can get a PCI card with SATA potrs and put that in.

2 Sata Hdd not supported

Hi rafiqbrush, let me go over a few things for the P5B MB.
There is a total of 5 serial ATA SATA drive ports on the board & one ATA IDE/PATA port.
The 4 main SATA ports are numbered, 1 - 4. Your primary SATA drive must be connected to SATA port 1. Your second SATA drive must be connected to SATA port 3. See page 2-26 in your manual.
All SATA drives are seen as master drives. Once the two SATA drives are connected (As per manual), boot to the bios main menu.
At the main bios menu make sure your bios shows both SATA drives. Than go to the bios title "Boot". Make sure your primary SATA drive 1 is listed in the boot order. Save & exit the bios. (SATA drive 1 must have windows installed on it).

Good luck rafiqbrush!
Thank you for using fixya.

your board may support sata however it may support sata 1 not 2 and your hdd may be a sata 2 one..so all you have to do is to check the hdd jumper and set it on sata 1 and also check the bios for the right settings to be made...
good luck
