Question about Mitsubishi VS-50609 50" Rear Projection Television
Hit it the side of the television with a hard blodgeding object until conditions improve. If conditions do not improve, increase the amount of force being dealt to the television by the blodgeding object; or consider the purchacing of a new television.

I believe that you are having HV voltage problems either with the SMPS or the HV Power supply. The shut down circuit is activating. This might be due to a component in the HV or SMPS section. I would suggest having a TV tech look at the set.
