Question about Sony STR-DE597 Receiver
YOUR BOTH WRONG ...hate to say it.
Just look at the manual and there is an area that says HOW TO RESET MICRO PROSESER...even at te last page it will say that if you do this all settings will be lost.....
Just dont repeat it to anyone because you will make me poor....P L E A S E ...ok

HERES THE SOLUTION HOMES OPEN IT UP AND LOOK AT THE 1 FUSE IF ITS BLOWN THERE UR PROBLEM GET A NEW 1 SAME AS THE 1 U PULLED WELL MAIN REASON FOR IT GOING TO PROTECTED MODE ITS OVER HEATING TO FAST BUY REPLACING THE FUSE WITH A NEW 1 WILL MAKE IT BETTA BUT WONT FIX THE OVERHEATING BASICALY THE RECIVER CANT HANDLE WHAT IT SAYS IT CAN DO LOL REASON IS THAT 1 RECENT THAT I HAD WOULDN'T COME OUT OF PROTECTED MODE WHEN TURNED ON SO OPENING IT AND CHECKING ISSUE BUY PULLING FUSE AND WAS BLOWN REPLACING WILL MAKE IT COME OUT MABEY THIS COULD WORK FOR U

Make sure that you are not asking too much from your system by having a "heavy" bass contour, or processing externally that amounts to the same thing...accordianman

SOURCE: Protect mode
You may have loosened a solder joint on one of the components inside with your air blast. A repair tech would monitor the outputs DC offset voltage and he will probably see one that is not zero volts and while wiggling various things he should see a sudden change in the DC offset voltage on the bad channel when he touches the bad connection. Then it's just a matter of resoldering the connection. Good luck on this one.
