Your problem is the holes in the cappuccino maker and
steam nozzle are clogged. Clean the holes in the cappuccino maker and the steam nozzle.

IMPORTANT: Before cleaning the holes in the steam nozzle, make sure that there that it is not hot and there is no pressure on the machine.

I'm sending you a free pdf manual download of what I believe to be your machine. If this is not it, give me the model # and I will try to find it.

Good Luck!

Jim

SOURCE: Delonghi Magnifica Rapid Cappuccino machine.

Hi Alan,

This posting is back on the unsolved boards again. I cannot see what anyone else has told you and I don't know what you have tried. So, I'm starting fresh....

If your control panel is not reading that you have inserted the container, then one of several things could be wrong.
I imagine you have already checked and cleaned all the parts involved and made sure that the lids are sealing and the container is seated properly. Clean around the door to be sure it closes securely.

If all of these things are in proper order, then it could be that the control panel has gone bad. Is there a reset button somewhere on your machine? Have you tried to go through the descaling/cleaning procedure and restart the machine?

If none of this works, I would suggest contacting DeLonghi to talk to a technician. Here is a contact page I got from the internet: http://www.delonghiusa.com/index.php?texts&pid=3

You may have already found the contact site, but if all else has been checked and found to be ok, I think that is your only recourse now.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate a 4 thumbs up. Thanks,

Handie Andie

Your question: "I have a Delonghi magnifica 3300 that is 7 yrs old. It doesn't heat the coffee very good and the steam frother doesn't work well either. I have always used filtered water and descale i

If heater not working properly ,but still working the heat transfer poor ,probably need to disassemble and actually manually clean heater unit with wire brush till really clean, otherwise replace heater unit as heaters are usually fully sealed. get on line and search for Delonghi magnifica 3300 (parts diagram , replacement parts, parts). then you will have part no and hopefully someone who can supply parts. As for frother if water not heating to enough to make hot coffee the not heating enough to make steam either so frother does not work,if blocked then need to clean out frother tube.

Screen Alert: General Alarm What does this mean

General alarm means the machine has detected a serious fault. There is a section in the instruction manual that may help. If not, read on.

Persistent "General Alarm"

This means many things. If the transmission is not stuck, check the main boiler has not burnt out (open circuit). This happens when the thermoblock labyrinth runs dry and overheats, a common problem caused by leaks, limescale, milk blockages or water filter contamination. Replacing the boiler is the only fix, a difficult and expensive process, experienced fixers (or nothing to lose) only.

Transmission
If the transmission is getting stuck there may be obstructions, the lead screw may be worn or the limit switches could be faulty. If cleaning and grease on the screw/bearings don't help then replacement is a tricky job only for confident hands. Approach with caution.

I'm getting the "generic alarm message even though I've cleaned my DeLonghi Magnifica. What do I need to do next?

Not good; from page 21 of the owner's manual: If the message is still displayed after cleaning, contact the service center.
The good news is that when I had to send in my ESAM3500 for warranty repair, I called DeLonghi (1-866-528-8323) and got through to their repair center without difficulty. They sent a new shipping box and wrapping material, and a prepaid shipping label to a repair center about 100 miles away. I got my repair ESAM back in just a week. I hope that your experience goes as well. If it's out of warranty, though, it could be expensive.
