You will have to login to your modem's configuration panel. To access this, you will have to use a computer which is connected to the router via an Ethernet (CAT5) cable. Once you are at such a computer, go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt (Or just go to Start>Run, type in: cmd
then press OK).

After Command Prompt loads, type in: ipconfig
Now press the ENTER key on your keyboard to execute the command. A list should be returned. You will want to locate the IP address associated with the, "Default Gateway." This is demonstrated in the screenshot located here.

Afterward open up your Internet browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc...) and type the IP address associated with the default gateway into the address bar. In the case of our previous example, you would type, "192.168.1.254" into the address bar (without the quotes and without adding www. or .com). Then press enter to visit the page. Your modem's configuration page should appear. You will want to click the link reading, "Run System Setup Wizard."

Afterward you might be asked to provide a password. If you don't have or know your password, try the default of blank. If that doesn't work you will have to call AT&T technical support for assistance in resetting the password.

Once you have reached the setup wizard you should be able to configure the modem to include the new registration information.

Let me know if I can assist you with anything else.

I want to block facebook on my att 2wire router i dont know how to access the router from my main pc to block facebook and my space

192.168.1.254 or 172.16.0.1 are the ip addreses you have to type into your browser while your computer is connected (wired prefered) to your router. Once the login comes up you need to type in username and password which are...2wire (username) with blank password OR Wireless (password) with blank username... You can make your changes from there... if you have any further questions let me know....

LIke this if it helped you !!!!! Please!

Hi i just wanted to please help me, I had reset a 2Wire 2701HG-T and when i try to go into it is asking for a user and password, i had tried everything i can think but still cannot go into could you please...

Good day rmemi
Here is the link for the installation guide.
If you go to page 6 it explains that the network id and the password are based on numbers on the router itself.
a. The network name is the word "2WIRE" (in all capital letters), followed by the last three digits of the
gateway serial number.
b. The encryption key is a 64-bit hex value, located beneath the bar code on the bottom of the 2Wire
gateway.
If you use the page from the actual installation guide, it has a picture to explain the information you are pulling from. If for some reason this does not work for you, I would recommend hooking the router up to a/your computer directly to the router using an Ethernet chord. This way you should be able to bypass the user login information and can set up the wireless settings to your liking.
I hope this helps, have a great weekend rmemi.

What steps do I take to configure my 2wire 2701 hg-b to connect directly by ethernet cable to my Directv HD DVR and pick up the dsl signal being transmitted by my primary westell router? Both are wireless...

Connect the cable at both ends and do a red button (inside card door) reset of the DVR. To test the connection, do thus: Menu -> .....setup -> system setup -> network setup -> test connection. If it shows not connected then "reset defaults" and run "connect now"
As a basic security feature the ATT DSL 2Wire 2701HG-B router/gateway requires you to enter its pre-assigned WEP key to connect beyond the unit itself and then to the internet. Since the Direct TV DVR HD24D only does a basic connection without having a place to enter the 2701HG-B WEP key it never actually reaches the internet.
The 2Wire 2701HG-B has the ability for one attached unit to "pass through" its firewall and internal security settings using a so called "DMZplus" mode. I set the HR24D DVR to such a mode within the 2Wire unit and the DVR connected with the internet flawlessly.

Using 1000SW, I get report of:- Connection Status DSL Signal: DSL found on Line 1 PPP Login: Login successful Internet Address: An Internet address was verified ISP Link: Domain Name Server...

When you get a 'cant connect to configuration server', dont worry about it, thats 2wire's configuration server. If you have a 1000sw, then you've been a customer for a long time and have been registered for years and dont need the configuration server. Both you and the 2wire have been configured for years. The 2wire is trying to reach the configuration server because you set it up again, im thinking you moved, changed phone lines, or changed service.

The 2wire configuration server is to set people's 2wire's up for the first time only, and even then it doesnt matter unless you call technical support, and then they can still help you by getting the serial number off the device when that happens years later.
