2-9450c telephone will not setup

I just got (5) model # 2-9450c telephones and. I am trying to use the first telephone and i plug everything in when i pick the phone up nothing happens. How do I program the phone to work. I read the instructions and maybe I am missing something but there is nothing that says why there is no dial tone. Please help. intercom light flashes red/green.

    I cannot add a station address. When I do, the phone acts as though all the station addresses are taken. Any one know how to fix this?

Each telephone must be connected to line 1 and line 2 for
proper operation. The remaining lines 3 and 4 may — or may not —
be connected to each station as you desire. First plug in the battery, then the phone lines (1 & 2 are mandatory), and third the power cord. If your intercome LED is blinking red and green, then press: STORE IN, followed by "INTERCOM" followed by a free intercom# (i.e., any of the memory buttons 1 through 16 not already assigned to another telephone set. Then wait for the phone to go through its initiation sequence during which it searches each of the four possible lines. After that concludes, you should get dial tone on your active lines. :-) Marco

With the handset down (hung up) press the intercom/speed dial number 1 then 2 quickly. I believe this assigns the phone intercom number 1. After a few seconds the phone should work normally. I just figured this out for my self.

I bet the problem is that you used to have two phone lines and now you only have one line. You cannot program an extension into one of these phones unless both Line1 and Line2 coming into the phone are working- it will act as if the extension you picked is in use, but the actual thing it is complaining about is that Line2 isn't working. The phones might have been working for years on a single phone line as long as they were originally programmed when there were two lines available and they have not lost power since then. But you don't have to throw the phones away just because you gave up your second phone line, you can still make them work. (I did it for a 12 phone system.) The way to to it: make a special cable that connects your single incoming phone line to both L1 and L2 on the phone, tricking the phone into thinking both L1 and L2 are working. Then program the extensions into the phones, and go back to using a normal cable so that only Line1 is hooked up. To make this cable: take a normal male to male cable and cut off one end. Then connect both the black and the green wires of the cable to the green post in a standard phone jack (the kind you would surface mount on the wall will work best), and connect both the yellow and red wires to the red post inside the phone jack. Now plug your incoming phone wire into the phone jack, and plug the wire you connected into the jack into the back of your phone. (Line 1 is the red and green wires, Line 2 is the black and yellow wires.) The phone is probably already blinking red on the intercom button, just push the extension number you want it to have, making sure there are no conflicting extensions already in use. If it isn't then press STORE/IN, Intercom and then press one of the 1 to 16 buttons at the top for which station number you want it to be.
I would reconnect the phone using a normal line so that only Line 1 is "hot", don't leave it on this double-connected cable any longer than you need to in order to program the extension. Now it should work.

But you don't have to throw the phones away just because you gave up your second phone line, you can still make them work on just a single phone line. (I did it for a 12 phone system.) How do you set up the intercom??? The manuals don't say how to do this. The intercom LED just blinks and blinks.

My problem is similar to 'geico's'.
i set up a never used, fresh out of the box, model 2-9450 phone for the first time.
followed all the steps, i think, but the handset does not work.
although the handset doesnt work, i am pretty sure if the phone is working otherwise - for instance the speaker phone works.
checked and rechecked both handset cord plugs - there is absolutely no sound on the handset receiver.
do you have any ideas that may help me?

If you intercom light is flashing red and green , it is seeknig to enter the network .Go to the intercom setup and give the phone an intercom number . That should do it .

I can't turn off my printer and I'm not using it


There is a power switch located on the right hand side panel. It is down low and towards the rear of the printer. Se section 5 on page 7 in the link below:

The static sounds indicate a poor telephone cord or connection. Check or replace cords between the printer and wall jack. Test with a telephone plugged in instead of the printer. If the noise is gone, but returns when plugged into the printer, clean the printer's telephone jack and try again. Until it is clean, the static will confuse the printer to think the line is in use.

Step one: Check the physical connections

Cannot receive a FAX but can send FAX on a HP Photosmart C7180 All-in-One


are you using the same line for fax and phone???
are you using a Telephone Answeing machine or a Voice Mail??
However you can follow the following steps


1. Press the power button to turn off the HP fax product.
2. Wait for 20 seconds, and then press the power button to turn on the HP fax product, and then connect one end of a two-wire telephone cord to the telephone jack and the other end of the cord to the port labeled 1-Line on the back of the HP fax product.
3. Make sure that there is plain white paper in the input tray.
4. Press the Setup button on the product Control Panel.
5. Press the down arrow to select Tools, and then press OK.
6. On the Tools menu, press the down arrow to select "Run Fax Test", and then press OK. The Fax diagnostic test prints.
7. Review the report.
If the test lists faxing issues and solutions, the fax test failed.
Try the steps on the printout to troubleshoot the issue as the report is specific to your product and faxing environment.
Repeat the fax test after fixing the listed faxing issues to make sure the test passes. Try to receive a fax.
Okay, next, we need to make sure that the Auto Answer feature is turned on by following the steps below:
When the Auto Answer feature is on, the HP fax product automatically answers incoming fax calls. When off, the HP fax product does not answer any incoming fax calls.

Try to receive a fax.
If the HP fax still cannot receive a fax, change the following steps

2. Use the down arrow to select Advanced Fax Setup, and then press OK.
3. Use the down arrow to select Error Correction Mode, and then press OK.
4. Use the down arrow key to select Off, and then press OK.

Try to receive a fax.
As a last step, test in another location by following the steps below:

Error 350 - how do I fix this?


error 350 means a disconnection, from your machine to that of the remote fax machine. Disconnection can either come from a power shortage, defective or not so good telephone lines, a call-waiting mode on the telephone, a defective fax machine or manual interruption.

However under rare conditions incompatibility between the two machines may cause the remote machine to simply get this code.
Try these steps...

1. Press setup, and then go to TOOLS.
2. Press okay on TOOLS, then look for RUN FAX TEST. Then press okay.
3. It will print a fax test page. Check if everything passed.
4. If it passed everything, try to press setup again, and then go to ADVANCE FAX SETUP.
5. Scroll, down and look for ECM (Error correction mode), then press okay
6. Under ECM you will have to options "ON or OFF" try to choose OFF then press OKAY.
7. Now, try sending a fax.



Also you can try to reset the printer.
1. Take out the cartridges from the unit .
2. Make sure the unit is connected to the wall jack directly without any surge protector.
3. Unplug the power cord from the back of the unit ( without turning off the unit ) .
4. Now press the # and 6 key together , while holding these keys down plug in the power cord back into the unit .
5. Do not release the keys after a few seconds you will find the hp logo or bars moving across the screen .wait while the unit turns off.
6. After one minute turn on the printer . It will go into alignment phase > let it finish .
7. After its done > try to make a copy .
Note - you can also try the OK and CANCEL key combination in place of # and 6

The telephone base announces, "Record after the tone. Press 5 when you are done." After the tone, speak towards MIC (microphone) of the telephone base. Press 5 or the STOP softkey when finished recording.
The answering system automatically plays back the newly recorded announcement. Press 5 to stop the playback at any time.

Just a plain telephone cord, plug it in. Go into setup and setup your fax name and number that will appear on the fax your sending. Set the number of rings before answering. Place a test fax call to some fax machine.
  1. Send a one page black and white text fax to 1-888-hpfaxme (1-888-473-2963).
  2. When your fax is received by the HP Test Fax Service, we will generate a return fax to you within five minutes confirming that we received your fax. This verifies that you can both send and receive a fax with your fax machine.
If you do not receive a return fax within 5-7 minutes, there may be a problem with the setup of your fax machine. Consult the user manual that came with the product for proper setup and configuration.

If using a VoIP digital line is necessary, changing the Fax Speed Adjustment setting to Medium might improve the ability to send a fax over a VoIP telephone line. Use these steps to change the fax speed adjustment to a lower speed.
  1. Press the Setup button (c01669474.gif ) on the product control panel.
  2. Press the right arrow (c01669475.gif ) to select Advanced Fax Setup , and then press OK .

Use the HP Fax Test
The telephone number for this service is 1-888-HPFaxme (1-888-473-2963). The fax service receives faxes and returns faxes within 5 to 7 minutes to the number contained in the fax header. Solution two: Run a fax diagnostic test
  1. Load plain white paper into the input tray.
  2. Press the Setup button (c01669474.gif ) on the product control panel.
  3. Press the right arrow (c01669475.gif ) to select Tools , and then press OK .
  4. On the Tools menu, press the right arrow (c01669475.gif ) to select Run Fax Test , and then press OK . The fax diagnostic test prints.
Solution three: Check the telephone line and change the HP fax settings Step one: Test the telephone line
  1. Disconnect the telephone cord from the back of the HP fax product.

NO SETUP INSTRUCTIONS SUPPLIED WITH MACHINE. PLEASE SUPPLY


1. well its quite simple. all you to do is to connect the USB cable to the computer from the Printer (the printer also has a port for the USB)

2. then connect the main telephone line into the port labelled "LINE" behind the printer.

3. then you connect one end of the extra telephone cable supplied to the port labelled "EXT" behind the printer and the other end to the regular port on the telephone.

4. plug - in the power cable and put on the printer.

5. then you put the CD into the computer and run the set-up from the CD which is fairly easy.

6. after a few minutes you should have your printer running.
