The auto-focus system requires adjustment / set-up with special tools if the auto-focus no longer functions correctly. Before ordering the tools from: www.micro-tools.com
check a couple of things:
1. Is the "Auto-Focus on-off Switch" in the "ON" position?
2. Put a slide that is as dark as possible in the slide gate. Power on, lamp on. Look down into the gate, on the front side of the slide. You should see a "S"-shaped light near the center of the slide.
If you have validated both of the conditions above, then I would contact my friends at micro-tools for the special tools. They should be able to provide you with adjustment instructions.
Good Luck !! Jim

SOURCE: Slide won't drop...carousel won't advance??? Kodak

When you turn it on, is the fan running? If not, it sounds like a lamp thermal fuse has opened.
If the fan is running, then it could be either a jam in the slide change mechanism or a broken or out-of-position slide change mechanism drive belt.
The good news: parts are still available (www.micro-tools.com). The bad news: neither item is an easy fix. I suggest you contact a factory-trained repair dealer for an absolute diagnosis and repair.

How do i turn off auto focus?

To strictly turn off the auto-focus, you have 2 options:
1. Some generations of 5600's have an Autofocus On/Off Switch. If so equipped, move the switch to "Off".
2. Remove the bottom cover. Locate the auto-focus motor and clip on of the wires that power the motor.
If repair is what you want to do, the problem becomes more complex and expensive! You will have to contact: www.micro-tools.com
You can order the 2 special tools, instructions and any other parts you need from them. When Kodak stopped supporting the slide projector business, micro tools bought out the remaining repair parts.

Kodak carousel 760h projector

The auto-focus system in Kodak slide projectors is really an auto-measurement system: One set manually, the system is supposed to maintain that distance on all subsequent slides. Correct orientation of the slides is that they are all placed in the slide tray in the SAME direction (the matte side of the transparency facing toward the screen). The measurement is from the FRONT of the slide transparency to the BACK of the projection lens. REPAIR calibration of the system requires 2 special tools: a RANGE SLIDE and a TARGET SLIDE. These tool slides and the calibration procedure SHOULD be available from: www.micro-tools.com They purchased all remaining repair parts from Kodak when Kodak stopped supporting slide projectors. Need to replace focus gears

When Kodak sold repair parts, they did not sell the gears separately. The gears were only sold on their associated shafts. You may be able to get the focus shafts you need from: www.micro-tools.com
They purchased the entire service parts inventory from Kodak when Kodak decided to stop supporting their slide projectors. Good Luck !!

Just purchased a Kodak Ektagraphic AF1 & neither manual/auto focus or slide advance work. My other Kodak Ektagraphic AF had both auto & manual advance broken as well. Used it for many years. Was...

The model AF-1 did not have remote focus feature. It does have the Auto-Focus feature. The auto-focus adjustment is a pretty "fine-tune" adjustment that requires a factory alignment tool & a trained hand.
Your model AF is quite old, and probably requires replacement of the "link" that connects the slide change solenoid to the slide change mechanism. The problem is the plastic the "link" was made of gets brittle over the years and cracks, rendering slide change non-functional.
Both problems are easily remedied by a qualified repair dealer with the tools, training and parts.

Focus Lense Will Not move using the remote or the dial - What can I do? Kodak Carosel model 750H

The KODAK Carousel 750H was manufactured from roughly 1971 to 1981.
If you can push the focus knob toward the outside of the projector and manually remove the lens, then the problem is the gear on the focus shaft (the shaft the focus knob turns). The gear has either cracked and fallen off or is cracked and slipping on the shaft. Either way, the focus shaft needs to be replaced by a factory-trained repair technician.

Focusing into slide transfer box

Yes, use a shorter projection lens. You didn't say what focal length your projection lens is, but Kodak and many of their OEM vendors made very short focal length lenses.
