Question about Canon PIXMA IP5200 InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

Canon Easy-Photo Print isn't recognising my Canon Pixma IP5200 - I get the message "The operation cannot be completed because a printer supporting photo print is not installed." The new computer is Windows 8.1. It worked fine on my old computer (Vista).

SOURCE: Selphy 510 won't print from computer, print ok from camera ...

Did you download and install the proper Vista driver from Canon's website? If not, I would suggest that. If you have, then try opening the device manager and look for the printer. Reinstall the driver and just direct it to look in the proper folder for it.

My color print outs, like mapquest, look like cartoons instead of pictures. I did a noozle check and yellow isn't printing. I took the cartride out and touched a paper towel to it, and the ink came out....

Never use aftermarket cartridges with your Canon Pixma ip5200 inkjet photo printer.

If your cartridge leaks fluid when out, then that's not a good sign.

Try to return for a refund if you just got it.

IP5200 doesn't recognise cyan ink cartridge and reports wrong color. No change after replacing with a new Canon ink cartridge, color is definitely correct.

This is a fairly common problem. How long have you owned the printer and how long have you had this problem?
Once I have more information I can assist you further.
Thank you,
Lee

Canon Pixma ip5200. Inner cover open

The inner cover is the part where the CD print tray goes. When you look at the front of the printer you should see CANON written above the output paper tray - just like in the picture next to you post. If you can't see the word - just fold up the flap.

Printer print blue instead of black

I have the same problem with my ip 5200, when printing a document in plain black.. I spoke to canon support and they suggested to save the .doc document as a txt file before printing. It works. Not too sure if this uses any colour ink to produce the black.

You can also set the printer on grayscale. However, the printer uses the colour ink to produce black.... hence printing in black & white becomes rather expensive.

If anyone has drivers to fix this problem please let me know...
