We bought a tv for a gift, but the sound is hollow. The sound works, but is very tinny in quality. Is there a setting that will help with this?

, make sure you have a HDMI cord and read the book that came with your TV sometimes you have to change the settings to PCM, it's very important to have the HD cord that controls picture quality and sound

Tinny sound on tv

You might have a defective audio amp. One thing you can do is try to compare the impedances of the audio amp's left and right channel (tv off) outputs with speakers disconnected. any major inequality in (ohm) reading obviously will tell you so.

My 52 inch akai i bought used at a lawn sale now when i turned it on and went to menu to adjust the color i seen that it is eather red or green you cant adjust it to make people and things look normal...

If it is simply a matter of the colors not lining up it may just need the convergence adjusted, but if one color is missing altogether (sounds like maybe blue is gone) one of the CRTs might be faulty. If this is the case then it will be more expensive to fix than it is worth. Even though Akai made high quality audio products in the 70s and continues to make quality recording anf musical equipment the fact is that their TVs are very low quality I am afraid.

Remote wont work

Our experience is that most "Universal" remotes do not support the menus used to adjust Akai product. I don't know who the US distributers of Akai are but if the original remote is still available this is usually the best way to access the menus & adjust the set. Some operating instructions may be available as PDF files online & it might be worth searching for them to get the best results.

Audio but no video on Akai DR-R5800PST

Your tv settings might be the problem. The dvd is plug and play so it should be ready to play with no major adjustments. If it does not work I suggest that you take it back.
