There are jumpers on most all modern motherboards that are password overrides. Find out you motherboard manufacturer (should be stamped on the motherboard) and look up the diagram to show you the location of the jumper. Then simply place the jumper on the correct pins and the password will be wiped out.
Hope this helps.

Lost Windows password:

  • Login as Administrator. Try with no password (load safe mode if you don't see Administrator). Press F8 during boot to access Safe Mode. XP only.
  • Login as other user (if other user is available) and manage users. Must be an administrator.
  • Reformat computer.
  • Use 3rd party software to remove password. Like http://www.top-password.com/reset-windows-password.html
  • Free software option would be Hirens Boot CD. This one is command prompt only. http://www.hirensbootcd.org/ Must follow instruction exactly.

Hello,...Sorry to hear about your friend!

First, I want to ask...Is there an arrow next to the logon password?

You need too... Re-Start the Computer and Hold the Control Key down, while it is Re-booting! This will put you in a Safe Mode.

The First Step,.. I would do while in SAFE MODE is: At The START Button, Type in Device Manager and see what kind of Hardware and Programs are Installed on this computer? If you see any Yellow Symbols,..Right Click on each one and do an Up-Date on all the drivers.

Second...I would then Create a Complete Back-up disk...Do you have a USB Flash Drive (Cruzer)? If not you will need a Blank...CD, probably more than one? Cruzers are relatively in-expensive, under $10.00, they hold alot of information in a very small space.

After you create a Back-Up log,..still in Safe Mode...

Click on the START Button...go to Control Panel, Or ...Type in box at the Start...User Accounts..You can sign in as a GUEST, but..you will have to Enable Guest Accounts and if logged in as a Guest you will not be able to change any previous settings, but you can surf around offline and even use the web if you have an IP Server!

You can try to retreive the original username & password to reset it, or even remove it, or you can turn off user accounts & passwords ? But , I wouldn't try this untill you restart, with a Back-Up Disk, that has all the Original System Information already stored in memory! And upon Re-Starting in Normal Mode, insert the the USB Flash Drive or Back-up disk...go to Computer...Open the Drive with Disk Installed, go to (User Accounts) again, and see if you can find password?

Try these steps, and let me know what you find? There is something on there if you have a passowrd logon! Let me know if you need help?

Kind Regards!

Martie

My laptop HP ProBook 4510s prompt computer open password befor going to BIOS or OS. And i don't know what is the password? So how can i reset the password to boot the computer.

When you boot up to the log in screen type in administrator as user to log in if you cant log in

during the boot up process you will see on the screen for a short amount of time press a certain key to enter set up press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS scroll down to set user password or supervisor password you can change or remove your password from there

also

The most common way that we know on how to reset or clear the BIOS password is to physically remove the power from the computer by disconnecting the power plug and then removing the Cmos battery for 30 minutes from the motherboard. Another way is to reset the clear CMOS jumper on the motherboard itself. Both of the 2 methods mentioned works because most motherboards use a battery to sustain the BIOS/CMOS settings for the motherboards PROM chip. So by cutting off cmos the battery power, the BIOS/CMOS settings will be erased. Hope this helps you

You can remove or change the Windows User oradministrator's password. You need access to a computer with Internet access todownload the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot upthe laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. There are very useful utilities CD and it a Linux boot CDwhich contains quite a lot of Utility programs including a password removalprogram. Click on one of these links todownload HIREN'S BOOTCD :- http://www.hirensbootcd.net/ http://67.20.82.163/

Forgot my password

Its a bit of a read
Passwords add a level of security to your computer. When sharing a computer with others, your customized settings, computer programs, and system resources are more secure when you assign a password to your logon name or user account name. The steps to perform this task differ depending on whether your computer is a member of a network domain or is part of a workgroup (or is a stand-alone computer). My computer is on a domain You must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group in order to complete this procedure. If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings might also prevent you from completing this procedure. Open User Accounts in Control Panel. On the Users tab, click the name of the user whose password you want to change, and then click Reset Password. In New password and Confirm new password, type the new password, and then click OK. Notes You can change passwords only for local computer accounts, such as guest, administrator, or accounts you create for your computer. You cannot change your network logon password in User Accounts. To change your own password, press CTRL ALT DELETE and then click Change Password. My computer is not on a domain If no password has been assigned to the user's account, a password will need to be created before it can be changed. For information about creating a password, click Related Topics. The steps to perform this task differ depending on the type of user account you have. If you have a computer administrator account Open User Accounts in Control Panel. Click your account name. Click Change my password. In Type your current password, type your current password. In Type a new password and Type the new password again to confirm, type your new password. You can also enter descriptive or meaningful text in Type a word or phrase to use as a password hint to help you remember your password. Click Change Password. If you have a limited account Open User Accounts in Control Panel. Click Change my password. In Type your current password, type your current password. In Type a new password and Type the new password again to confirm, type the new password. You can also enter descriptive or meaningful text in Type a word or phrase to use as a password hint to help you remember your password. Click Change Password. Notes A user with a computer administrator account can create and change passwords for all users on the computer. Users with limited accounts can create and change their own passwords, as well as create their own password hints. If a user with a computer administrator account changes the password for another user, that user will lose all EFS-encrypted files, personal certificates, and stored passwords for Web sites or network resources. Cant get "into" my computer.

Is it as the windows login screen or is it some other screen like for a bios password.

If its a BIOS password, you will most likely have to call the manufacturer and prove its yours and not stolen and have them give you a master password, or use the Original CD to do a recovery and remove it if possible.

Alot depends on the make, model and type of passwords your talking about.

I forgot my administrator password

safe mode will open windows with minimal amount of drivers, but will still require a password. Safe mode with command prompt will open in a simulated dos mode, and you can type "explorer" at the command prompt to open the gui and get to the start menu. buty this may not help.

i have sucessfully removed administrator password from windows by taking the hard drive out and installing it in another system as a secondary hard drive. i then manually deleted the "sam" file from windows/system32.

you can also reset the password by reinstalling windows or performing a second, parallel, installaation of windows (identical OS) on the same drive, and then deleting the second installation.
