Replace fuse dryer model GEQ8821LLO

Hello;
My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.
You never explained what the problem was. Dryer not running? No heat? Dryer shutting down. It could be as simple as cleaning out your dryer hot air distribution manifold. A dryer will not run if you do not have good air flow due to lint blockage. A dryer will not run if you have a bad door switch. You can Ohm components out with a multi-meter, setting the meter to the lowest Ohms (Omega Symbol). You should get a reading of "0" if the component is good.

1.) Dryer Door Switch - This switch replaces your dryer door's switch.
  • You may need to remove your dryer's lint screen and lint screen housing before lifting its top panel to reach its existing switch.
  • Be sure your dryer is unplugged during installation.

Thermal Cut-Off- This component is located on your heating element housing,. you may be able to access it at your hot air distribution manifold in the back of your unit.
  • When replacing your dryer's fuse, replace its thermostat, too. The thermostat should have prevented the dryer's existing fuse from blowing. The high-limit thermostat is functional to 250 degrees (Fahrenheit) and the thermal cut-off fuse to 360 degrees (Fahrenheit).
  • Install the fuse in your dryer's heater element housing box. Be sure your dryer is unplugged during installation

  • Part #: 3977394 Cost: $33.00

    Hot Air Distribution Manifold:
This is in the back of your dryer and easily unbolted. If you are plugged up with lint your unit will shut down. Remove this component and clean the lower discharge end.

    Lightolier 3 way remote wiring

If you have determined the wiring to be correct, then yes, the remote is probably defective..

According to Lightolier literature, your Lightolier OS600 is called a "strap dimmer". Having 540W on a 600w rated switch is pretty close to the limit (90%) of the switch, and will cause the switch to fail sooner than say a 300w load. The 600w rating of the switch applies only if all the heating sink fins are in place. Often times, when installing in a box with another switch or dimmer, fins must be removed to allow the switch to physically fit. If any fins are removed, the rating of the switch is reduced. Page 30 of the manual shows that a 600w strap dimmer that has a single fine removed is reduced to a 500w capacity dimmer, and if both fins are removed, it is reduced to a 400w dimmer. You may find that you will need a 1000w dimmer to reliably gain control of your 540w load, as it will control 600w even with both fins removed. This derating is required due to the heat created by the dimmer. Heat is a killer for electronics, and solid state dimmers are no exception.

Check out page 32 of that manual. On it, are wiring diagrams for dimmers and switches. I believe your is figure "G" that shows the 120v "hot" (black) connected to the black wire of ALL switches, the yellow wires of ALL the switches are connected together, but are not connected to anything else, the 120v neutral (white) connects to the MASTER white wire AND light fixture white wire and finally, the MASTER red wire connects to the light fixture black wire.

It is also important to note that these switches are for standard tungsten incandescent and quartz halogen lamps ONLY. They are NOT suitable for CFL, Fluorescent or other types frequently found in commercial / industrial buildings such as neon or other gas lamps such as Metal Halide, Mercury Vapor, High Pressure Sodium, etc.

I hope this helps & good luck!

My heater would only work on hi and even then the heat was not as warm as it should be. Then today on the way home I noticed a small amount smoke coming from the switch area where you turn it on and adjust...

The operating only on HIGH is most likely a problem with the Blower Motor Resistor - this part costs about $30 The problem with the smoke is most likely the Blower Control Switch - Saturn has had problems with both of these. Most aftermarket parts houses have replacement switches for around $60. You have to remove and disassemble the A/C - Heater control head to install the new switch. (About 1 hour of labor if you have it done professionally - about 1.5 to 1.9 hours for both the switch and the resistor)

The rolling feet are missing. Any idea how to find replacements

I have a Lakewood 7096 heater. We purchased it used and got 8 to 10 years of service out of it. It was never heavily used while in our possession, just to heat the bathroom for showers.

The 900W switch quit working after used it and showered Sunday. The 600W switch still works fine, but the unit doesn't produce much heat at any speed.

After looking at various posts on fixya today, I decided to pull the pair of switches out. The 900W switch is burnt. The wire attaching to the 900W switch is burnt and bare!!! I don't know what happened. I would be scared to use it again, even if I replaced the switches and the bare wire. I don't know if it's even safe to use the 600W setting.

Anyway, I purchased a sunbeam radiator heater this morning. The ol Lakewood has the wheels you are missing. If were to come to an agreement on price, I would be happy to ship them to you. They are in good shape, just a little squeeky, which a little oil would fix.

If the light circle around the knob stayed on, then you have the same problem I just had. I purchased a OEM replacement switch via ebay for $38. Very simple replacement, but take your time so you understand how it works. It took an hour to install and works fine now. Here is the link to the parts list:
    shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/assets/pdfs/literature/Repair Part List - CCE3401B.pdf

If you can, take pictures with your phone of how everything is assembled before you take it apart. It will save you hours of aggravation.

I must say, Jenn-Aire (Whirlpool Corp) was less than helpful. I asked for some advice prior to purchasing the replacement part and all they would tell me is they were willing to schedule an authorized repair shop to come over. The closest was a 2.5 hour drive each way, and the travel time cost was $85/hour. Plus the part at list price ($90 something) and installation was going to cost $600. Give me a break.

    ISSUE
Some 2005-2007 Freestyle, Five Hundred, Montego and 2008 Taurus, Sable and Taurus X vehicles built before 12/14/2007 may exhibit an inoperative heated seat(s). This concern may be caused by an intermittent open element in the heated seat mat.

    ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

    SERVICE PROCEDURE
The heated seat system is controlled by the heated seat module located underneath the front passenger seat cushion. The heated seat switches are part of the heating ventilation air conditioning (HVAC) module but the heated seat system operates independently from the climate control system. The heated seat module regulates seat temperature by monitoring resistance of a thermistor type thermostat located in the cushion heater mat. The heated seat module is designed to remain on, heating the seat and maintaining temperature until switched off. For vehicles built before 5/1/2006, the module will time-out and switch off after 10 minutes.

    1. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-10 for pin point test on inoperative heated seat(s).
    a. When testing the heater mats resistance and circuits for an intermittent open, technicians should sit in the seat while testing the circuit resistance, move the seat in multiple seating positions and apply pressure to several areas of the heated seat mat to ensure the mat element is not open intermittently.

    2. Refer to WSM 501-10 for heated seat element replacement when an open electrical circuit has been identified.

Main blower stays on, burner fan on intermitantly,

All gas furnaces have a fan control of some sort. Either a mechanical fan control where there is a temperature probe that reaches into the heat exchanger compartment thru a hole in the panel that separates the control part of the furnace(this would be the front of the furnace where all the controls are) from the heat exchanger. This type of control is either a small black plastic control about 4 inches by 2 inches and about 1 1/2 inches thick secured to the panel with 2 screws. Or it is a slightly larger silver colored control that should have a pull off cover. It may say Honeywell on it. Either way the control will need replacing.
The other type of fan control is a solid state control board. This will most likely be located in the indoor fan compartment. It should be located under a covered control box. The box with all the wires going into it. This board will also need to be replaced if your furnace uses this type of fan control. You will need to bring your furnace model and serial number to a dealer that sells your brand of furnace or go online to a parts dealer that carries parts for your furnace. Hope I was of help to you! Good luck!

    Intermittent heater control Marvin 2060

On Monday, 1/21/08, I returned the Marvin 2060 heater to the store I purchased in 02/07 since the freeze guard stop working. The owner left me a voice message at home and said he after doing some research, he discovered Marvin went out of business in 12/07.
And the heater is no longer covered under the warranty. The owner gave me a telephone number, 800.326.3690 which carry the parts for Marvin Heater. I have not called the number since I am looking for another heater with the freeze guard feature since it something I need quickly.
