Mf6500 imageclass - when i make copies, i get fat blurry black blobs, which go from left to right. i have changed the toner cartridge three (3) times. is it the drum?

From my recollection the drum is a part of the toner cartridge in this printer so having changed that 3 times, it would not be at fault. I believe your machine has a worn/torn fixing film which is in the fuser assembly. That is the heated area where the paper goes through before exiting the printer. There is no quick fix other than replacement.

When the fax is received on the other end the print is to small & blurry

Try making a copy to see if it is the same. That will eleminate or focus in on if it's your end or theirs. If it looks small and blurry then check/clean the feed rollers in the original/scan section with warm soapy water.

Brand new fax when we send a fax it is received at the other end fuzzy or blurry. Tried a different phone line and still the same. Cleaned glass on scanner

Slight possibility that your sending in Photo Mode, most likely the machine was damaged during shipping and the CCD unit or scanner is out of alignment. Just make a copy....if it comes out blurry then it is the scanner. I would return it for another machine. If the copy comes out nice and clear then there is nothing wrong with the scanner.

Blurry pictures

If you are running XP, I would open them with the picture and fax viewer and print them that way.  I believe work downsizes the image quality in order to save on the big size of the document.

Outgoing faxes

Not good! It sounds like you have a bad scanner assembly. Make a copy of something and you probably will see the same result.

Lexmark X6170

Received fax is unreadable or blurry
Please go through the checklist below to see if the suggested action(s) can resolve the issue.

* Make sure the copy function is working well.
* Print a Clean nozzle page from the Maintenance menu. If the printout has unexpected white or color horizontal streaks or missing portions, print the Clean nozzle page again. If you are still experiencing streaks or mission portions, you may need to replace your cartridge(s).
* The cartridges may need to be aligned.
* You may need to ask the sender to increase their fax quality.

Sent fax is unreadable or blurry.

1. If the receiving party indicates that the fax output is unreadable or blurry, you may want to try increasing the fax quality.
2. Check the scanner glass for excess amounts of smudges and/or fingerprints. If the scanner glass needs cleaning, moisten a clean, lint-free cloth and gently wipe the scanner glass. Make sure the scanner glass is dry before scanning the next document.

Copies and outgoing fax quality

your machine most likely has toner spills in it.
if you send faxes face side down follow these instructions ;
1- take out toner
2- look for thin glass strip on bottom inside the machine
3-wipe clean

if you make copies side up then do the same except look for glass strip on the upper side of machine

Incoming fax quality

Are you using genuine Brother supplies? Generic supplies are the main reason for print quality issues. Have you ever changed thr drum unit ? Expensive! You can buy a new machine and get a new drum and toner for a little bit more.
