SOURCE: I got a new Whirlpool

Christianeta, first let me clarify one thing. The FixYa website you posted the problem on, is not the Whirlpool website, nor the Canadian Tire website.. And we don't sell appliances of any type. But, I can help you with your problem.

Despite it being a new unit, there may be some packing material clogging the inner tubing of the the hose connection. Or the hose you're using is to long (over 48") or is kinked or is not sloping down and straight to the floor drain. It relies on gravity to drain, so it will not drain up. When any of the aforementioned happens, water is diverted into the water collection bucket.

To clear any potential packing material or a clog from the inner hose connection tubing, please do the following:

Turn the unit OFF and Unplug it and disconnect the hose.

Using an appropriately sized, 18" long, plastic Zip Tie, carefully insert the tip of Zip Tie into the hole or tubing. Continue to push it in until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly work the Zip Tie past this bend, until it either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly pull the Zip Tie back out while rotating (twisting) it. This will breakup any clogs. As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared, as some water may follow. Reconnect the hose, plug the unit in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity extraction level to 35% or Maximum if you have a manually controlled unit. Allow the unit to run, while you monitor the hose end for water flow. It may take 10 to 15 minutes for water to start flowing. So, be patient.

NOTE: If you don't have a Zip Tie, you may use something similar ( i.e.a long pipe cleaner), but NO wire coat hangers
.

I hope this helped you. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Flashing light is on(power on/off pad)

red lights on dehumidifiers almost always indicate a full water catch bucket , this does not allways mean it's actually full of water , the machine thinks it is , some thing has gone ary with the level sensor in bucket , these most times are a simple float switch, that can get knocked out of position when one is emptying the bucket , also this same float switch also allows machine to know there's a bucket in place to catch water , sometimes bucket is not in correct place to catch water so machine wont start

What has happened is the the tubing that fills the bucket is clogged. To solve this, first turn the unit OFF & Unplug it. Then, remove the water collection bucket and look up inside the bucket holder cavity. You will see either a drain hole or small tubing that drains the water into the bucket. Reinstall the bucket, plug the unit in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity extraction level to 35% or Maximum if you have a manually controlled unit. Allow the unit to run, while you monitor it for any leakage.

NOTE: If you don't have a Zip Tie, you may use something similar ( i.e.a long pipe cleaner), but NO wire coat hangers

Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Hi

You need to check that the bucket is clean and that the sensor for the water level in the bucket is clean.

An old toothbrush and some warm soapy water can sometimes achieve a great result.

Failing this you may need a new sensor, be careful and either draw or photo the old wiring route with your cell phone to make it easier to fit the new sensor

Hope this helps

TILT the unit back about 5 degrees with a half inch piece of wood under front wheels and She will drain into hose instead of bucket.... IF this don't work , I will eat the bucket.........goldiejud@netscape.net

Our de-humidifier is running cool but there is no water in the bucket, should there be?

Is it warm outside, and do you have your A.C. on? Dehumidifiers ,just like A.C. systems, remove humidity. If the weather is cold, put an open gallon of water in front of your unit and let it run a day or so. If the bucket gets water in it, and the container of water goes down, then the unit is working.
