Question about Cats

Open Question

I have young kitten who still has his 'milk' teeth. He is literally skin and bones. I am sure he is dehydrated as well as starving. Can I feed him some Ferretone or Ferretvite?

What can i use for my sunburn?

Some home remedies for sun burn are:
1. Use cool or wet cloths for sunburned area.
2. Take frequent cool shower or bath.
3. Apply soothing lotions that contain aloevera to sunburned areas.
4. While skin is still damp, use a gentle moisturizing lotion (but not petroleum or oil-based ointments, which may trap the heat and make the burn worse).
5. Burns draw fluid to the skin's surface and away from the rest of the body, so you may become dehydrated.

Feeding a kitten

Bringing a kitten home is very exciting. You have a new friend at home and it looks so adorable. First thing you must know is that kittens grow fast and they grow a lot! Its' weight can double or even triple during this time. That's why they need much more calories than adult cats and should be fed more times per day(4-6 times). If you find a kitten that's less than four weeks old, feed it kitten milk replacer, not cow's milk, as it doesn't have the all the required nutrition. After four weeks of mother's milk, kittens make their transfer to kitten food, and it's time for you to feed it right. During this time, emphasis should be on high quality protein (meat, poultry or fish), vitamins, and minerals. Fat and carbs should be given in the same amount as for adult cats.My suggestion is to buy high quality products specifically for kittens in pet stores like Petco and online at websites like pet food direct (these products have everything the kitten needs). What should you not feed a kitten? Under no circumstances should you feed a kitten dog food, chocolate, cooked bones, or cow's milk. Cats should receive kitten food pretty much from the 4th-5thweek until they are one year old.

Advantages and disadvantages of raw food for dogs

Feeding raw food to dogs is a topic in dispute, as there are both benefits and drawbacks to this type of diet. Another name for this diet biologically appropriate raw food. A large part of rawdog food comes from high protein food such as chicken, turkey, beef, and fish.Other raw foods include egg, vegetables, yogurts, and pumpkin. One thing important to remember is that raw dog food should not be cooked, especially when it contains bones! Now let's talk about the advantages. First, it does not contain fillers and unhealthy chemicals that are found in commercial food. Second, it makes the dog have cleaner teeth and a healthier skin. Third, it makes dog have high energy levels. Disadvantages include health risks that could arise from dangerous bacteria in raw meet. Also, when a dog is fed rawfood, it is likely to not get all of the necessary nutrients (lack of minerals such as calcium). Last disadvantage is the risk of choking and breaking teeth from bones.

I heard that milk helps to strengthen our teeth. How so?

Milk contains a high amount of calcium, which is crucial for keeping our bones strong. In regards to teeth, milk makes our teeth stronger and prevents them from getting cavities and from decay. Milk is also recommended by dentists as the only safe drink to have in between meals other than water.

What are the benefits of giving toys to a kitten?

Kittens have lots of energy. If they don't have toys, they could turn this energy into negative behavior. Also, if kittens aren't active, they could become obese, which will lead to health problems in the future. Finally, playing with toys improve the cats' coordination and keeps them mentally and physically healthy.

Is Silica gel litter safe for kittens?

I would avoid using Silica gel litter in a kittens litter box and wait until they are slightly older. Young kittens are prone to tasting cat litter (simply out of curiosity). Silica crystals can be harmful if ingested and for this reason alone should not be used.
