Question about Kyocera Mita KM-2530 Laser Printer
Called out to look at a this machine. It is working but making splotchy copies/prints and displaying the "Time for Maintenance" on the panel. I cleaned the corona wire and the rotary scrubber sponge that contacts the drum. There are striped and blotched areas of toner baked on the drum. I know these are causing the poor print quality. Is there a safe way to clean the drum.. ie iso. alcohol or anything else.. or will this make things worse? Is there a reset to turn off the maint. display or is this a call for the BIG ONE for the warranty that must be done?
A KM 2530 that displays "Maintenance time" has done 400,000 copies with the same drum, dev. unit, fuser and transfer roller. They can run longer but these items are due to be changed and I suspect your problems will disappear after a complete Maintenance Kit is installed all at once by a qualified technician. This is not cheap but if you divide the number of copies into this cost your cost per copy is cheaper than anything else on the market. They are good machines with few problems

1. drum refreshing- set A3,or A4 paper in the multipurpose tray.(bypass) press the * (asterisk) key
on the control panel. Then select drum refreshing.Select "ON".
2. Check the Drum Cleaning blade-clean it,
Drum can be cleaned with alcolhol,if copy quality is bad after that perform several drum refresh procedures.
3.Time for maintenance is just info for customer that machine has declared maintenance interval.
Customer must check Warranty terms and conditions.
resseting time for maintenance: enter 10871087,then select U251, press start. To clear, press clear key(yellow button)
and start. After that, press stop key twice, and enter 001 and start.
4. Also I suggest to clean grid on main corona.
