Yes it can be...

is it locked up from lack of oil... then no, you dont wanna mess with it.

is it locked up because the cylinder is full of fuel or oil... pull the spark plug and check.

is it locked up because the cylinder is gummed up from gelled fuel ( i've seen it more than once ) yes it's worth some effort

How do I replace condenser on 16hp brigs

a condenser on a brigs 16 ,,,, well heres my dilemma on answering this , as accord to my books , briggs didn't have an engine that size that had points the biggest they had was a 12 hp (and its a monster too as I have one on a mortar mixer) it's got way more torque than a modern hp engine that same rating ,I could never replace it , as accord to my books when they did decide to make that size and above all the way to 21 hp the times progressed far enough that electronic ign had arrived , and they don't have condensers , im thinking you have a large 12 hp (like mine) the points and condenser is located under the flywheel , your need a flywheel puller to get that off (losen lock nut 1st) and carefull heat helps the points and condenser is in center just next to shaft , under a little tin cover one 5/16 screw holds it down (I suggest replacing both )

Check with a local small engine repair shop-one that works on chain saws. They should be able to order you one.

I have 16 hp Kohler engine with a compression release not working, help.

i have a Kohler 16 Magnum opposed cylinder engine and it wont crank over with the spark plugs in it,battery and starter are both good, its an aluminum engine and i have seen several of the Kohler engines break the automatic compression release on the cam gear and they seem to lock up while trying to start, pull the plugs and the crank fine,Kokler is the most expensive engine i have seen and their parts are outrageously priced, old Kokler was a good engine, newer ones in my opinion are junk,i work at a small engine shop,i have seen new Kohler engines with a broken ACRs,i work at a second job,we got a new supervisor that worked for Kohler before her came to our plant,he said he worked customer service at Kohler and he heard complaints constantly from people using their engines and the returns were out the roof on their engines, what im saying is i wont ever but another Kohler unless itsm an old one,Thanks Tommy

The safty lock for blade will not reless how do you reless

Pull the side cover completely off, there should be a band brake inside that is probably full of dirt and oil. Engine de-greaser and compressed air help. Work the safety handle back and for to make sure it's free once you have cleaned it.

My chain keeps freezing up on me and its brand new. how do I fix tha t on my husqvana 16 inch

Turn the chain brake off, then remove the bar and chain. Clean the side of the engine where the bar fits to, start the engine and observe whether the small oil port on the engine oozes out oil. If nothing and the oil tank is filled, put the saw back together and take it back to the seller for warranty repair of the oil pumping system or a fresh saw in exchange. Hope this helps!

16 hp briggs vangard blows clouds of smoke under pressure

Normally the smoke is cause by one or two problems.
1...too much oil in the crankcase, lower oil to correct level and smoke will stop.
2. broken rings, bad valves inside of the engine, major overhaul or replace the engine with a new one is the only repair for this problem.
