I have this dryer and I may know the problem. The thermal fuse. There is likely a lint clog in the ductwork which will cause the thermal fuse to go out.
Call LG people before you call the service man.
Really, you have no heat. Check out the heating circuit...heater, t/stats; vent. etc. Something is sensing that the filter is blocked when it is not....check air flow.
I doubt the board is a problem at this point.

SOURCE: Dryer not generating heat and drying clothes...
Dear customer,
We recommend you to do the following checks when your dryer isnt generating heat..
Thank you.
SOURCE: LG DLE5977 electric dryer, 3 years old. On power
Your belt is likely broken. I am presuming you DO NOT have a setting on your machine that allows the drum to not turn or if yours does have such a setting you have not selected it!!!
I am not intimately familiar with your particular LG model even though FixYa.com rates me a LG expert.
Dryer tops are generally held in place with spring clips. Pop the top being careful to not mar the finish. Look for the belt (about 3/8 inch or so wide). The belt will be near the middle of the drum. Try to pick it up. If it is broken, you will be able to remove it. If it has slack in it but you can't remove it, it is probably off the motor pulley. Put it around the pulley through the belt tensioner.
Remove the front - use care you don't damage any wires.
The drum will fall free at this point. Take pictures with your cell phone to aid in reassembly.
You can get replacement belts from a FixYa.com advertiser, your local appliance parts place or visit www.repairclinic.com
