Ohm out the thermal fuse, if it is ok, then you can ohm out the heating element, be sure to visually check the element as well becqause it could just be shorted out internally giving you a reading, but first and foremost check your voltages be sure you are getting 240 across the outer plug spades and 120 volts from left to common and right to common, unplug this thing before you get into the element area or you could end up with a smokin fro !
SOURCE: Maytag Epic-Z F-28 error code
F28 is a misc error,
most of the time it is because the washer is NOT LEVEL.
1. Unplug waher,
2. Relevel washer. (make sure all legs are equally distributing weight, so as to ensure no shaking). See owner's manual.
3. Plug in, and use.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: what does the error code Sd mean on my Maytag Epic
Hi Please accept
the solution if the issue is resolved post a comment for further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa. Error 5d/Sd means too much detergent was used. Try the
following procedure---
- Run the unit through a RINSE/SPIN cycle.
- Run a NORMAL cycle without adding any
detergent.
This should clear the unit of the excess detergent. If still the problem
persists, then please check the following things--
1. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check wire harness connections to the drain pump, pressure switch, and
Central Control Unit (CCU).
4. Check/clean drain pump filter of foreign objects.
5. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
6. Check drain pump.
7. Check the pressure switch.
8. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic Test or any cycle.
Thanks
