I have this same issue on my Suzuki S-350 Mini Digital Grande I got in Feb 2012 and I still have never fixed it. I'm still searching the internet for an answer. I figured if I could use the middle programmable pedal, that would suffice. But I've never figured out how to program the pedal! I've searched the menus and I can't find it anywhere! Even the manual doesn't show where this supposed menu is.

Sustain Pedal works intermittently.

To start with always best to use the correct power supply these should be readily available from any good Yamaha store. Is the sustain pedal a Yamaha pedal? The plug end of the pedal connect a multimeter across the two connectors and set meter to show continuity. If there is no continuity press pedal, hopefully this will now respond. If not then the break is in the pedal. If meter idea works then it could be the socket on the keyboard, these can work loose on the pcb they are mounted to if they are used a lot.

You could open up the keyboard and look inside checking the solder joints on the socket or simply take to a Yamaha service centre.

You could also try a master reset of the keyboard, hold down the highest note whilst turning on, this will reset to factory default.

Let me know how you get on.

Are the currently manufactured Roland Home Piano series pedal assemblies compatible with the Roland HP237?

This wish an after market pedal, or the original 3's connector? If the keyboard is on when you plug and unplug that, it is likely due to a voltage reference getting confused. Usually when you get constant sustain then most likely a switch is stuck closed, or open, down there in the pedal. How these things work normally is that a pliable switch is opened, for sustain, or closed. It depends on the keyboard. Some keyboards have a setting inside them to accommodate both types of pedals, and some pedals have a switch to choose either. Your keyboard does not have a setting that I can tell, other than adjustments for a resonance option (nice feature). I am not sure the newer RPU-3 pedal is compatible, it seems to be for the newer models. If you are handy with a volt meter, then can check the cable's pins for a common, then a pin that changes with each pedal (use continuity mode, beeps when circuit is closed). Could be a piece of dust is in there, or hair or carpet stuff, and a good cleaning would fix that from blocking the normal function. Manual Link: http://media.rolandus.com/manuals/HP-237_OM.pdf

Casio Privia 410r Piano soft pedal problem

The Casio Privia 410r has two pedal jacks at the back. One is the sustain pedal, the other is the soft/sus jack. Please use the other jack if you want to use sustain pedal. Only 1 of the 2 jacks can be used.

However, if you have the optional sp30a pedal which plugs UNDER the piano instead, then only can you have 3 different piano pedals.

How can I repair my sustain pedal?

Odds are it needs replacing or a technician. Contact a local music store that sells Yamaha pianos or call Yamaha at 714-522-9000.

My pedal is not sustaining - it is plugged in at the pedal outlet, not sure what else to look for?

The first question is has it ever worked? If this is new, the connector of the pedals is a mini DIN type which is REAL hard to get seated properly. Often something blocks it from seating fully. Remove the plug and with a bright light inspect the pins... they are EASILY broken off. Aligning the connector carefully and making sure it seats is important. This piano also has a foot under the pedals to screw down against the floor but that isn't wht cause the pedals to not work.

Switch on e50 and sustain pedal not holding notes

I assume you are plugging this into a ROLAND brand product as the Roland sustain uses a normally CLOSED contact while MOST other brands use NORMALLY OPEN contacts.

The Roland synths now monitor the pedal as the power is turned on and supposedly decides which contact type is used.

Remember that for MANY voices, such as piano, notes are held longer BUT they do not continue indefinitely just like the sustain on a real piano works. On a real piano the dampers are lifted, but the strings eventually stop ringing due to the losses of energy in the strings.

Some voices will be held, such as organ tones.

I don't have enough information from your post regarding what voice you are having trouble with.

There is a tinny unpleasant sustain in the high notes with or without pedal. Is there an adjustment to mellow this sort of ringing (the keyboard is set all the way to "mellow") we tried...

Some of the Yamaha pianos have several pianos emulated and selecting a "Grand" will sound different than if you select an "Electric" or "***** Tonk" setting.

There is NO internal adjustment for this. other than the voice selection. Choose either the Grand1 or Grand2. Do not use reverb as this can "ring".

What type of sustain pedal Roland EP-90 digital piano is using - open or closed at rest?

CLOSED is typical for Roland pianos when at rest. (open to sustain).

Note that the jack PROBABLY has a grounding contact so when no pedal is used/plugged in, the jack is shorted at the piano.

Kurzweil digital piano unpredictable voices and volume

The contacts of various switches and keys are likely dirty. They are often conductive rubber and need cleaning with 99% isoprophly alcohol and q-tip. Clean both the conductive rubber pill and th circuit board traces they contact.
