I have the same problem. I leave the computer on for awhile to warm up the screen. I don't know why, that seems to help. I turn off the screen on the bottom right and do that a couple of times. Behind the screen I unplug and plug and unplug and plug the screen in again. After it gets going, it works all day. But at night I like to turn off the computer to rest. So I have to do this every morning.

SOURCE: Monitor color is purple?
Most likely, the plug. The pins are known to have a tendency towards falling off, therefore some of the colors are not viewable any more. As a final answer, yes, you should change the cable.

SOURCE: I have Samsung Syncmaster 920N
You need to replace the capacitors in a set, http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/SAMSUNG/Samsung%20920NW/ Basic LCD monitor and TV troubleshooting guide: Learn about bad caps: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague Capacitors kit: http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/ he can make you a set of caps for you. Or www.digikey.com just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current, long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series.
Bad cap can look normal but can have high ESR.
I hope you monitor does not have bad lamp assemblies either.
You need to verify if you are getting 16~18vdc feeding the inverter circuits and 5vdc feeding the logic board. You will use car lamp for testing the 12~18vdc power supply section, 6v lamp for 5vdc power supply checking.
