Does anything show on it's display? If not, it is probably completely dead and should be professionally serviced.

Try this solution to your problem...
Turn on Ipod, on the left hand side there is a volume
control switch. While you are on a song, hold the top of the
volume control switch to increase the volume.
If that does not work then go to "Settings". then
"music" and make sure your "Volume Limit" is
set to "Off", if it is not then touch "Volume Limit" and set it
