Fixing dryer. The start button won't "say on"the dryer turns on, but the start switch doesn't stay on, and has to be held/pushed for Speed Queen AGM479W2 the dryer to work.

well why didn't they come back and fix it?check the wires going to the motor or the switch in the motor is bad, basically you have to replace the motor.you can go here this guy really drags this video out but it can show you what's happening to your dryer.i know on ge dryers if this happens it's the belt switch that's bad and on the older whirlpool dryers it was usually a bad relay or a bad even heat board but you don't have any of these in your amana dryer,it might say speed queen but it's an amana when you look up the model number,i don't know if by shorting out the dryer it could have damaged the motor,i would call whoever worked on it and tell them it ran fine until they worked on it you never had this issue

Roper dryer takes a minute to start then shuts off 2 minutes later

his is probably the motor going bad. The sensors wont cause this to happen. The start switch either, replacing all the sensors in the world wont make the motor be good again. But their is something you can do to try and make the motor last a while longer, their isn't any holes to oil the dryer motor so you must make some, using a 1/8th inch drill bit make a hole in either end of the motor where the bearings are (taking care not to hit the shaft), then add some hi temp oil such as zoom-oil, (dont use WD-40) and work the motor free as you can by hand. If this frees up the motor it may go a while longer. Also oil the rollers and check the slides to make sure they are not pinching and stalling the motor. If the motor can't reach top speed it will get hot, overload and stop.

Compare the wiring connections on both motors. They may be marked. They may be different. Careful examination will determine the start and run wires. Other wires turn on the heat once the motor reaches running speed. The thermal fuse for the motor is internal and unservicable. The hi limit sensor will control the heat, but will not necessarily turn off the motor.

check for an open door interlock. the centrifugal switch inside the motor may not be coming up to speed to keep the motor turning. the door interlock is part of the seal-in circuit to the motor.
