SOURCE: DST Error (1000-0146)

Glad to know you can use DOS. Ok, you need to run these three commands in DOS (Recovery console, in XP verbose):
1) fixmbr, this will repair the boot sector on your HD
2) fixboot, this will repair your Windows boot, and
3) CHKDSK /F (the F parameter stands for "fix").
The system should now be able to start normally, or at least in SAFE MODE.

SOURCE: Trying to copy DVD data discs to hard drive, some

Hi,

The first thing I thought of is that the discs could be scratched, but I doubt that's the problem.

Another possible problem (although unlikely) is that the discs themselves are bad. Sometimes they come with bad sectors, and don't always work.

Next idea could have to do with the burning process not being as perfect as it could. This could either be because of other tasks running during the burn, or burning at a too high speed.

I see that you said you've replaced the drive, so that pretty much rules that out. However, I do have one last suggestion that may help.

I've found that quite a few people have had problems with the Power2Go software, and that may very well be the culprit.

I suggest you download CDBurnerXP from HERE and try burning another disc. Make sure that when you do it, you have as few processes running as possible and do it at one of the lowest speeds possible. Oh and even though the program has "XP" in the name, it still works on Vista,7, etc.

Hope this helped :)

How to transfer photos on sd card from printer to computer using vista?

Hi
I presume that you have a built in card reader in your printer, into which you are inserting the SD card from your camera. In this case it is quite simple :-
Make sure the printer is turned on and the printer card reader will show up in "My Computer" as a removable drive. Which letter it uses will depend upon the configuration of the computer.
Double click on this drive and navigate to the folder holding the photos (probably named "DCIM") which will be files in numerical order with the ".jpg" on the end of the file name.
These files can then be cut/paste or copy/paste to an appropriate folder (sub-folder of My Pictures perhaps) on the computer (cut/paste will remove the photos from the SD card). Most recent versions of Windows, including Vista, will preview these files when they are double-clicked, or in some cases create a slide show of all of them for you.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

How do I view photos I've taken

Hi there
There are basically two methods of looking at & copying photos from your camera to your PC.
1. Removing the memory card from your camera and inserting it into the card reader slot on your laptop (most modern laptops have a card reader). It does assume that the card you use in the camera is compatible with your card reader.
2. Connect your camera to the laptop via a USB port with the lead which will have been supplied with the camera.
In both cases the camera/card will show up in "My Computer" as a removable drive. Which letter it uses will depend upon the configuration of the computer.
Double click on this drive and navigate to the folder holding the photos (probably named "DCIM") which will be files in numerical order with the ".jpg" on the end of the file name.

There are basically two methods of looking at & copying photos from your camera to your PC.
1. Removing the memory card from your camera and inserting it into the card reader slot on your computer (most modern laptops and some desktop computers have a card reader, otherwise you can get a cheap USB card reader). It does assume that the card you use in the camera is compatible with your card reader.

How do i cut, copy, paste on computer

I guess you want to "move" some folders or files to an external device.
I hope you know about Explorer. Once is open you can find a folder/file right click and choose cut/copy. Open the drive in the external media and on the right side on an empty space right click and choose paste.
I hope this is clear.

Camera says file error when trying to look at pics

Question; Have you tried plugging the camera in to the computer with the usb cord?...If not, leave your memory card in the camera and connect the camera via usb cord into the computer, after a few seconds orso a window will come up asking you"what do you want to do with this device" orso, just close (x) that and click on "start" on the desktop. When that opens, click on " my computer". A window named"my computer" will open up showing several devices (depending how many device you have on your computer). For instance, the hardrive is usually marked (c) disk..Look for a "device" with a name that sounds like your camera and open (double click) that. If you don't recognize any devices, then open them all, one by one, (except the hardrive (c) ) and see if there are any folders in there that seems to represent your picture file orso (mine says 100dcism or something like that, I dont know why lol), double click such file and it will open up. If you then see files named (jpg) etc then those are your pictures. If you are still not sure then double click one and it will open up, if it is a picture then your picture will come up in full view, voila, you found your pics (they are in the file you openend before yopu actually saw the picture come up)...If you still dont see your picture, just close all windows and repeat process on different "discs" ( (c), (f), (g) and any others, except (c) thats the harddrive usually....Once you've located your pictures copy or cut (hover the mouse pointer over the picture you want and right-click then select cut (this removes the file, picture in thid case, from wherever you cut it, or you can copy it(same right-click procedure) and select"copy" this will leave the pic where it was while making a copy you can "paste" anywhere you want them from the place you found them and paste them in to the folder you want ( I sometimes create a new folder on the desktop and put all my files I take from the camera in there, then later I can sort them to seperate the video's from the picture files....For your problem in particular, I would follow these procedures till I found the new files you are trying to load into your computer, when you find those then cut or copy those to wherever you like (ie "my pictures" folder. Once you have them safe there, I would go back to "my computer" and find the disc ( (e), (f), (g) where you found your missing files (pics) and then delete everything on that disc, this will delete and clean your disc, and most likey remove the straggling deleted pics of times past lol...If you know how to defrag then go to the defrag menu, but this time, while camera plugged in via usb, chose the 2 disc visible (unless you have 2 harddrives your camera will be the second one(it will have the same disc letter ( (f) or (e ) for instance as the disc you found your pics on (the disc here is actually the memory card in your camera

How do I download my computer files onto a Kingston DataTraveler 110

Look for the DataTraveller in My Computer and then just copy and paste or cut and paste any files you want straight to the DataTraveler.
Right click on the file, select copy or cut (cut will move the file permanently, copy will just make a copy of it)
Right click the DataTraveler and paste.
