I found metal shavings under the top oil seal, the shaft is loose ? Is the motor fixable?

What problems occure to the jaguar s type differential when the oil seal repeatedly continues to weep even when its been changed


oil seals leak from not running square on the shaft (installed wrong) ,there is a groove worn under the seal lip and the seal is not sealing properly or the breather at the top of the diff housing is blocked and pressure is building up in the diff ( small metal cap that is loose when you turn it. It covers a bleeder hole that lets pressure out.

Magnet shavings inside distributor cap


. No they are not . It indicates that the distributor shaft is either bent or loose on the drive shaft. allowing the rotor button to touch the pins in the cap. It may also indicate that the mechanical advance is failing.

Dryer making thumping noise, getting metal shavings too


Hi Jim


ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like the drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication, or maybe your drum belt has slipped off of the idler arm pulley.

Note: This method works with most front loading machines.

Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer if you have to.
Note: Some tops hinge and tilt backwards so they do not have to be removed and the electrical console with stay with the lid.
Also remove the lint filter and the screws holding the lint filter housing in place.
Be REAL CAREFUL not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the dryer by removing two screws located on either side of the top of the dryer housing and unplug the door switch.
This will expose the drum and belt. Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm pulley and motor.Now is a good time to replace the front felt seal on the drum if it needs to be replaced. Be sure to use a good grade of weatherproof cement on the seal to glue it to the drum, sometimes the glue is furnished with the seal.
Now is also a good time to check the belt to see if it has slipped off of the idler arm pulley and also to check the belt condition for wear.
Be sure to note the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt.
Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots or wear they will make a thumping type of noise.
If your drum rollers have too much wear on them replace them.
If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them and are only squeeling then they probably only need lubrication.
Remove the rollers and clean the shafts that the roller rolls on, remove any hair,dust,etc from roller and shaft.
Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil, or a light lubricant like Vaseline.
Reassemble the dryer.
Plug back into your electrical receptical.
This should solve your noise problem.

1993 honda xr 125 runs strong but noticed metal shavings in oil whats the problem


Metal shavings in the oil indicate a pretty serious problem. Where the metal is coming from is the question. Unfourtunately, if the problem is not located inside the right side engine cover where the clutch is, the motor must be torn completely down in order to find it. The more you ride the bike, the bigger the problem is going to get. The bigger the problem, the more it will cost to fix it. I would not hesitate to tear down the engine. The shavings are now in the crank bearings, clutch plates, top end and everywhere else. The inside of the engine will need to be cleaned out. The only way to do it is a complete teardown. The good thing is that while torn down you can install new crank bearings, output shaft bearings, OHC chain and tensioner, and all new seals. You will end up with a nearly new engine.

Fairly new ge washer spitts out grease/oil from under agitater


Remove the agitator and inspect the upper shaft bearing condition by trying to push the shaft in various directions. It should not be possible to observe movement in a good bearing. If the bearing looks good, then replace the rubber seal just under the plastic block on the shaft top. You must be very careful not to damage the shaft where the seal lip rides. If the bearing is loose, the machine must be torn down to remove the shaft from the supporting post.

How hard to replace crank shaft


I hate to say this , but since metal shavings were found in the oil a total engine tear down is needed for proper cleaning and parts inspection/replacment in other words an engine rebuild also you need to know what caused the problem to begin with. but if you just want to replace the crank you will need to remove the engine and remove the oil pan to gain access to the crankshaft.

it means the motor is worn out and isnt going to last for very long.its all part of the gears in the motor thats what the metal shavings are from

Turntable plays too fast


I have seen this problem before. Lift the turntable off. It might be held down with a clip around the center pole. Under it you will see a wheel that contacts the turn table and the center shaft of the motor. The motor shaft has 3 0r 4 elevations with different diameters. When you change the speed the wheel will move up and down to different diameter levels on the motor shaft. It must be free to move. It might need some oil at the moving parts as I suspect it is not moving properly.
