SOURCE: I have a new Samsung
The problem happens during the spin cycle while the clothes are gathered to the front of the drum making contact with the door gasket. At high speed spin, the contact friction results tears up the clothes making the holes. Other washing manufacturers, such as GE, upgraded their door gasket with a deflector which prevents constant contact between the clothes and the gasket. In your case, the only way prevent this from happening is by not overloading the machine and/or refraining from setting the machine to the highest spin-speed. Too much crowding of clothes in the drum increases the chance of having them gather to the front and make contact with the door gasket.
