On page 33 of the Getting Started Guide it states that: If you are using all of the device functionality, see the "Fax" chapter in the electronic user guide that is provided on the device CD (HP Color LaserJet 2830/2840 all-in-one only), and then go to step 27 (Network connection) or step 28 (Installing software) in this getting started guide.
Do I really need this CD electronic users guide?? I can send faxes, but not receive them. I've made sure that the answer mode is not set to Manual, the phone line is working, the rings to answer feature is set. I'm frustrated as to where to go from here.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!
a received fax is only partially printed. Sometimes the machine prints two or three lines or a half page or sometimes nearly a full page. It varies. Rarely does it print the full fax page.a received fax is only partially printed. Sometimes the machine prints two or three lines or a half page or sometimes nearly a full page. It varies. your computer has to be equipped with a fax modem according to the getting started guide http://www.lexmark.com/publications/pdfs/2007/2500/v3708617_en.pdf page 33 And you use the software that came with the printer.....Also try this if you have internet connection on your computer Make sure your printer is connected with usb Go to the control panel click printers and other hardware from there you should be able to set up faxing Here is the full manual http://www.lexmark.com/publications/pdfs/2007/2500/v3709407_en.pdf
1. Make sure you have paper in the feeder tray.2. Make sure that Fax Forwarding is not selected:
Use the up/down arrow buttons to scroll through the menuoptions until you see the option required, and press the "check mark" button to select: Select "Fax" on the device main menu.
Select "Fax Setup" from the Fax submenu,
Select "Ringing and Answering" from the Fax Setup submenu
Now find the "Fax Forward" option. Once you see this option, press the left or right arrow buttons until you see "Off".
Now press the "Enter" button to save.
Let me know if this doesn't solve your problem, and include further detail to the problem if available.
Quoted from the manual:
The HP all-in-one will not automatically answer calls. You must receive all faxes manually by pressing Start Fax Black or Start Fax Color. For information on receiving faxes manually, see Receive a fax manually. You might use this setting if the majority of calls on this phone line are voice calls and you rarely receive faxes.

see manual (can be download from homepage www.brother.com). If you are a victim of spam faxes you better buy a new mfc with a pc-fax-incoming-transmission function (e.g. mfc 440cn etc.) This will give you the opportunity to have a look at the faxes on the screen first and then to decide which one should be printed.
