I have just bought my daughter a new Casio Exilim EX-S770 Dig. Camera. She has not been able to charge it. When she puts it on the charger the red light flashes all the time and nothing happens.

I just had the same problem with my np-20 battery for my z70 camera. It was about a year old and had been working perfectly and then just started to flash red in the charger and nothing happened. I returned it to the store where I purchased the camera and they knew of the fault and replaced the battery no questions asked.

  • exs770 Dec 20, 2007

Hey guys... I purchased an ex s770, which had to be replaced three times due to a faulty lens, which is a common problem with this model. Also, a year after the last replacement exchange, the battery would not charge. The camera would only turn on when attached to the charger. I called Casio and they immediately sent out a replacement battery.

  • Anonymous Dec 24, 2007

I finally called tech support today. I procrastinated because I thought it could be a hassle, I never sent in my warranty card, it's been over 90 days since my purchase, etc., etc. I'm sorry I waited, because Casio made the experience so easy. The rep instantly identified the problem and offered to send a new battery. I just had to give some brief info such as month of purchase, serial number, and the store where I purchased the camera. Now my new battery is on its way.

The battery was put correctly on the charger but it just keeps flashing and doesn't charge.

I haven't used my camera for a few months, I went to charge the battery and it was flashing red, I left it overnight and in the morning it was still flashing and the battery hadn't charged. I called casio UK customer service on 020 8452 7253 I explained that I need my camera in 2 days time for a family wedding. He took the serial number of the battery and it turns out it was from a faulty batch. They are sending me one out recorded delivery for the next day. I had really good service from Casio....although I might change my tune if the battery does not arrive tomorrow!

  • Anonymous Feb 13, 2009

I bought a new battery thinking that it was a batter issue but I have no such luck. I put the new battery in to charge and no flashing red light came on at all (like with previous battery). There was NO light unless I fiddled with the charger and battery angle...and it always turned off eventually. This is crazy. I never had problems like this with Olympus cameras.

i have the same problem but i cant charge it with any LG charger because the LG charger entrance is just bigger than the entrance of the casio charger..=S

  • Anonymous Apr 21, 2009

I have had the same problem with my camera and thought that I was going to have to buy a new one. Luckily I have an LG mobile phone so I tried using the charger, just for a minute, and it worked! WOW thanks, you have saved me buying a new battery/camera!

I had the same problem as this.
what i did was...
i kept putting the battery on the charger then took it off as soon as the red light came on.
i did this about 6 times.
doing this puts a bit of charge in the battery each time before the charger starts to flash.
after the battery as got enough charge in it it can start to charge.
hope this helps.

The problem only occurs when the battery is fully empty. Solution is to 'jumpstart' the battery with a regular mobile phone charger for just a minute or two (use two paperclips and some duct tape to connect the + and - ). Then reinstall in camera and put it in the charger.
It has worked for me!

If you have 4-5V DC general purpose power supply or 19V DC laptop power supply you can boost charge the battery using this voltage. You should apply 4-5 V DC for 1-2 minute and 19V for a 15-20 seconds. Please be careful for the polarity.

I just bought this camera as an "Open Box" special a few days ago. It would not charged (flashing red),I tried some of the steps on here. I tried replugging the unit in and out many times. This did nothing.
I took an LG phone charger and plugged it directly into the camera for a few seconds and plugged it in the charger and it worked!
I had to push the charger in kinda hard to the camera and it came on and said low battery and I held it for a few more seconds.
Thanks!

Hi, I have the Casio Exilim EXS770, purchased it last year, and have not used it that much! Now I cant turn it on, and when trying to charge it, the light flashes red. It will do the slide show on the charger though, so some power is getting though?

I have to say Im quite disappointed with this, my panasonic camera lasted ALOT longer!

Any advice? Or does anyone know of contact numbers in New Zealand?!

Cheers!

I just had this happen to me today. I plugged in my battery into the charger and it just started blinking instead of staying solid. I figured out that the arrow on the battery has to be exactly aligned with the arrow on the battery. In my case, I had to shift the battery a little to the left in order for it to charge. Hope this helps!

I had the same problem and my camera was bought in Dec 2006. I called Casio Customer Support, and they said this problem only applies to NP-20 that was being produce in 2007.

But the symptoms are the same...the charger red lights keeps blinking and it wont get charged.
It seems like this is a manufacturing default and they WONT replace for me. This is bad.

I had a similar problem. I called Casio and asked about this and they apologized, acknowledging this was a known issue and told me they would ship me a replacement and that I should get it within 10 days. The first time the lady told me there may be a hiccup because I bought it off ebay, but when I called again 2 days later the man said there should be no question I should get a replacement battery and he would make sure the battery is sent. Both representatives were clearly very well trained, polite, and pleasant to speak with. I am very impressed with Casio's customer service and recommend you give them a call for a free replacement.

The battery is dead. Get a new one from Best Buy, etc. That's what I just did. My original one did the same thing even though I only had the camera a few months.

A useful thought: I had this battery problem in Peru. BEFORE traveling so far away from camera service, be SURE to take a couple of extra batteries, plenty of "film" and maybe even an extra camera and charger. FYI: had I purchased a new battery in Quito, Ecuador, the price would have been over $100.00 USD! I might as well have bought another camera for not that much more.

This is what I intend to do next time I am away from home either domestically or internationally.

Lol, I had the same problem, or so I thought. I called Casio Customer Care and told them the same thing, that I wasnt getting a charge and getting a blinking red light. The CSR took my info and said I will be receiving a new battery in the mail within a week.

I was playing with my dead camera after I had got off the phone and looking at it wondering how the battery just died all of a sudden, when it has been working well this whole year that I have had it.

I then realised the battery was in the wrong way. I turned the battery around and hit the power button and what do you know, it turned on. Lol, I guess I get another battery for free. Thanks FiXYA!!!

Battery flashing when charging why?

If the red light is flashing after inserting a NP-20 battery in the Casio Lithium Charger BC11-L, it means that the battery will not take a charge. Normally when putting the batterry in the charger, the light will be a constant red. After charging is complete, the red light will go out. Battery is then fully charged and ready for use.

Casio NP20 battery does not charge, charger keeps flashing, does this mean I need new battery? also,it has 700MAH will 800 do when I replace it? was does this mean

Hello,

If you have had the battery a long time or have charged it often it will need replacing if it does not charge.
800MAH is the capacity of the battery, how much power it can store.
800 is better than 700 and if it is a NP20 it will be OK in your camera.

Hope this helps.

My Casio Exilim EX-S880 wont turn on. Battery is dead but the camera wont charge on the charger. The red charger light is flashing when then camera is placed on it. This red light used to stay on...

I called casio and they told me that when you have a red flashing light on the charger it means the lithium battery is no longer any good. They offered to send me one free of charge. It's been several weeks and I have yet to receive it.

Casio exilim camera charger

I read that if you connect a 9V battery (+ to +, - to -) to the NP-20 for 10 seconds, it will jump start the battery and provide just enough charge for the battery charger to recognize the battery. The problem is that the NP-20 battery becomes so low that the charger will not charge it. I also read that you can use 2 D size batteries if you don't have a 9V battery.

Just make this connection to the NP-20 battery, not while in the charger! Only connect it for about 10 seconds or so. Everyone who tried it was successful and the battery would charge when it was put back into the charger. There should be no need to buy a replacement battery.
