Mitsubishi TV problem

My TV shuts itself off after approx 2 hours use. Once it has "rested" for several hours it can be watched again, but only for a couple of hours again. If it doesn't get enough "rest" the usage time is shortened. Sounds like something is overheating. Any suggestions>

Re: Mitsubishi TV problem

Where is the oscillaion circuit?
I'm having the same problem. TV only works if my A/C is on so I'm thinking something is overheating inside.

Re: Mitsubishi TV problem

Your unit is lack of oscillation! thats why your unit turn off it self! maybe change value of resistors or capacitors... or maybe lost contact to oscillation circuit....

When something like that happens the problem is probably in the power supply section of the receiver.

Samsung hl-s5087w.... Tv is 4.5 years old, and is about 200 hours into its 3rd bulb. Yesterday, very similar to when the bulbs burnt out, it shut off. I thought that it may be getting too hot, so after it...

Above the light is a temp sensor with a blue and white wire plug. This sensor is the problem for all these shut downs in my opinion. Pull out plug and jump it with a wire or paper clip bypassing sensor. Tv should work now!!!!

Sony KDF-50E2000 shuts down and blinks repeatedly twice.

The 2 blink error is a temperature error and the 6 blink error is a thermal fuse error. You may need to unplug the set and get you a can of canned air, take off the back lower cover and blow out all of the fans inside the set.

Turns of after being watched for several hours.

Do you have the tools required to solder electronics? Do you know how to solder electronics? Have you been trained in CRT safty ? Do you know about High Voltage safty? Is the tv Model number WS-65809? Do you know how to perform static geometry adjustement on a WS65809 if needed? Do you know how to perform static convergence alignment on a WS-65809? Do you know how to perform fine convergence adjustement to a WS-65809?

The answer is :yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes
You can retreive an error code of 23 or 24 right after the tv shuts
itself off .
There is a 95% chance that I could tell you what to solder , no parts need to be replaced in your television and you would not have to pay someone to repair it.

When turning on the TV, I hear a banging/grinding sound.

If you hear a grinding, whirling, spining or buzzing sound, that sounds to me like the COLOR WHEEL,the reason for that is because your color wheel spins at 5,000 rpms(revolution per minute) and something that modifies the balance of the disc can cause different things,Unfortionatelly the only way to check that the color wheel is working properlyis you need to check it out physically

I did some research and I found the color wheel at DM;

Please keep us posted.

Wd-62628 video freezes, audio stops, 30 sec later TV shuts off

Intermittent problems are the most difficult to find because they don't show up long enough to trace them down. Today the digital sets are all cpu controlled and a glitch from any board can lock up the set. The problem can even be software related, such as settings or firmware updates. Unfortunately we as technicians do not have a history of symptom/cause on the newer digital sets. Your best bet is to e-mail Mitsubishi with the symptom as described above, such as the blinks, E2P, signal source etc ... and ask them what they think. good luck
