System fan error

If you have replaced the fan and you are still getting a "Fan Error" then you have replaced the wrong fan. The system fan is not fitted to the top of the processor, it is usually fitted to the case.

Fan error

This is an indication that a printer fan has stalled. Check the cable connections at J7 on the system board and at the main fan assembly. The main fan runs continuously when the printer is powered on unless the printer is in the Power Saver mode.

167 bios

To troubleshoot processor issues, follow these steps and test the processor after performing each one:

Notes:
  • If either the system board or processor have been replaced, reflash the BIOS to the latest level before proceeding.

  • Some computers allow the fan to stop spinning. This is not a malfunction. The fan should start spinning as the system heats up.
  1. Ensure the latest BIOS code is installed. This will correct any 167 POST errors for the Intel microcode update and "176 No Processor CPUID" post errors.

  2. Reseat the processor and the heat sink

Note: Do not touch either the processor or system board contacting surfaces. These can be extremely fragile and bent pin damage due to touching is not covered under warranty.

  3. Verify the processor fan operation is not blocked by cables or other hardware.

  4. Verify that any replacement processor is the correct architecture for the system.

When i press the on button, the first logo screeen comes in abt 7-10 secs then after 3-5 secs fan error appears on a blank screen and after another 2-3 secs it shuts down by itself. I cannot boot...

the problem is simple. you need to first change the fan for the processor. The pc goes off since the fan to cool the processor is faulty.........just to prevent damage to the processor. get a correct model, normally by checking the spare part number on the fan and try googling it up on the net. need me know if you need assistance in buying one.
good luck.

Before you "fry it" try taking the CPU fan off of the processor, remove the processor, reinsert the processor and CPU fan and see what happens.

Processor fan

Maybe you have not put the correct fan on and it has shut down to protect itself. Processors overhead catastrophically in a matter of seconds. Also did you connect the fan to a power supply on the motherboard.
