Question about Kenmore 96212 / 96214 / 96219 Electric Kitchen Range

1 Answer

Range oven door

I accidentally pressed the "clean" button instead of the "clear" button. Not wanting to clean my oven, I opened the door thinking that would stop the cycle. Wrong! The door lock clicked and now I cannot close my oven door. The lock light blinks and of course, the oven light stays on permanently. I tried unplugging it hoping it would reset. I have tried clearing it, but that doesn't work either. How can I get the lock to unlock?

My kenmore 46745 or 46749 (both models listed on the manual) door is jammed. I accidentally opened the oven door, stopping a cleaning cycle after only 15 seconds, and now the door will not close...the lock...

Hi,

If you've interrupted the clean cycle or have accidentally set the clean cycle with the oven door open, the latch may have engaged and now the door can't be closed because it will hit the latch. There may be a door activated switch on the front face of the oven. In this case you may need to manually press that door switch with your finger while at the same time canceling the clean cycle to get the latch to retract so the door can close fully again.

Hi robertkbrown...you may want to try to following steps.....good luck my friend...chris If ?LOC DOOR? is flashing in the display of your range or oven, and the self-clean cycle has not been selected, follow the steps below to reset your control: Motorized Switch 1. With the door open, locate the door jamb switch on the face of the oven. It will look like a small black post or dowel. 2. Locked oven door

Look for a button or sensor which the door would press when closed.
If you find it hold it down for a minute, this should reset the lock
if it doesn't it may do when you let go

Oven door won't unlock

I had the same problem on my Kenmore Electric Range. Door would not unlock. Tried pressing "Off" for multiple seconds, but still would not unlock. No error codes. Clock was displaying normally. Finally decided to try running it thru the self cleaning operation to get it to cycle thru locking and unlocking the door. When I started self clean, the door automatically went thru the auto lock and "locked" appeared in the display. I then hit "Off" to clear it and stop the cleaning cycle. The door then unlocked as normal!
