Hmmm, sound like you may have not connected the screen properly OR more seriously you could have blown a fuse on the Motherboard.I recently bought a DS from E-bay with this problem. Its a matter of soldering across the fuse to bridge the gap.Its a VERY VERY small fuse so it will take a steady hand.Have a look on Google for DS lite blown fuse and you should get a few images showing you wich fuse to BRIDGE.Its usually the F2 fuse, but after I had done this the DS would work but it would not charge. After a bit of fiddling I found that the F1 fuse had also gone and apparently this is for the Charging procedure. You may be able to get replacement fuse for it but I couldnt find them anywhere.

It looks like you don't have the correct software installed on your R4 card. Which software you'll need depends on the version of the R4 card you actually have. The following webpage should help you determine which version of the R4 card you actually have and therefore what you need to download:
If you are looking for a reliable place to buy DS and DSi cards fromthat will stock originals, I'd recommend using http://www.NDS-Gear.com(I've used them myself). They test every card before sending whichmeans you won't receive dud cards, and more importantly they havesupport before AND after your purchase by people who reply very quicklyand in perfect English. Some of these dodgy websites take 4-6 weeks todeliver and never answer e-mails, so I'm glad these guys are different.Oh, and they guarantee to dispatch by the next working day, whichalways helps with speed and all. And they're recommended by a lot ofthe DS card help sites, too.

SOURCE: new R4 card wont work !!!!
First make sure you have the correct kernel for the card. Go to the website where you purchased it and download the current firmware. Next copy all of that onto the micro sd card. Build folders in you sd card, very simple right click...new folder... enter... then label them correctly .. Label one movies... music... games.. etc... then put your files into the correct folders.. Another common error is that people use to high of a sd card.... some r4 cards only accept up to a 2gb micro card If you use one that is too big it will stick on the loading screen ... If none of this works reload all the software onto the card and start from scratch... hope this helps
