Question about Sharp XL-MP130 CD Shelf System
Issue: CDs that are loaded into the trays do not read/play, even though they did previously. first it will happen with one or more trays, then more trays will go "unreadable" until none of the trays can play CDs. We have had this problem once before and called Sharp about it. They suggested unplugging the system overnight and then trying again. The other suggestion was to use a CD cleaning disk, which we did not try since the unplugging option worked. The problem with unplugging the system is that all of the preset radio stations, etc. are cleared from the memory. Not a real good fix, if you ask me. So we not have a <2 year old system that cannot be used to play CDs; we have reverted to casettes, if you can believe it.
The problem is drying lubricate oil fromelector motor which spin the cd disk.
Cool! It is real! Works great. After 4 days of f..ing around, finally works!!
Thank's a lot!

Hi Everyone !
We got the same problem two month ago and we fix it. The problem is drying lubricate oil from elector motor which spin the cd disk. You need to open top cover its 5 screw , 4 an sides and 1 on back. Then you see black cd changer in side. You need to open top cover of cd changer by unlock plastic clips and slide cover. Under cd holder you can fined elector motor that spin cd. You just need two drops of lubricate oil on top bearing at electromotor. My works fine right now .

I have the same problem. Actually took the cd unit apart and cleaned the lens but the problem still exist. Now here's the strange part... if I tilt the unit either to the front, back or side to side it starts working and keeps working even when I set it back level. But if I try to play anything else after I hit the stop button, I have to tilt it again. While I had it apart, I found out that happens only with the cd unit itself. As I'm not a tech, I know this may be a strange question but is it possible there's a "level sensor" (such as a mercury switch) causing the problem?

Did any one actually try to open and 'clean' the lens? Yo' Einsteins, The CD player is a SEALED UNIT! You cant get to the lens. My tech says they just replace it if the cleaning disk doesnt help.

Cd cleaning disc is not advisable to clean your laser lens.. all you have to do is manually cleaning method! open the unit go to laser lens and clean it with 100% cotton buds then rub it slightly clockwise, but careful this is sensitive parts.
