SOURCE: NEC LT260 PROJECTOR NOISE
To open this projector, you need to undo six screws at the underside of the case. That means you have to turn the projector upsidedown.
Pls note that one of these scews is a little hidden under the carrying handle.
After removing the screws, return the projector to it's normal 'up-side' up, standing position.
Remove the bulb cover srews and remove the bulb cover.
Lift up the top cover carefully starting from the front then all together.
The cooling fan is mounted very near the bulb assembly.
Carefully check the fan blades for any obtacles, wires or even a broken fan blade, that could be causing the noise.

Hi topher1234
I will need your Make and Model of the Projector , before I can do a diagnosis. Also include if this is a LCD or DLP machine.
Together with the above , can you feel any vibration on the Projector when you place your hand on it ?

The unit needs to be opened and have the fan checked. If it is out of warranty and you are capable you should be able to access the fan quite easily. It may be rubbing against something or it may have contaminants inside and needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: My Acer PH530 overheats and shuts down after 15 minutes.
Same here.
But i found a solution. I mounted a 80mm 12V Fan on the Air-Intake Side of the Projector, connected 12V Power and viola - no overheating anymore.
It's very loud but i got my Projector in an extra Room in my Basement-Cinema. So noise is not an issue for me.

SOURCE: My projector makes a really annoying noise
The TDP-P5 are easy to open. It is a matter of removing the lamp and 3 torx screws. However, it is very tightly packed inside. If yoususpect the lamp, sometimes the outer race of the fan motor comes away from the bearings. This can be fixed by using a vacuum cleaner on the opposite side of the fan (in your case, not the side closest to the casing, but the other side), and this will spin the fan while trying to re-seat the motor bearings to the race. Give it a go, you have nothing to lose.
