Reall y depend of your laptop. Some will just to remove a panel from the bottom your laptop, I suggest you start with that. If you don't see any fan you can vacuum, the you will have to take it appart and access the motherboard (Laborious job).
Cheers

Noisy

The noise could be from dust that gets in cpu fan or power supply fan. Clean them but do not open the power supply. Better replace your power supply.

Noisy computer after cleaning fan

If you used compressed air, the fan maybe was rotating too much when you blowed it. If you damaged it, replace it.

Fan noisy

Two common factors why CPU fans are noisy:

1. The collected dusts under your fans.
2. Your computer is running over the neutral power that your Power supply can handle, i.e. overclocking, high graphical games and videos.

solutions:
1. clean fans (power supply fans, exhaust and others)
2. replace CPU fans with branded and proven to be quite fans.. it may be an additional cost but proves to be very silent. :)

Noisey fans

Noisy fans are not dirty fans, they're simply noisy. There is nothing to clean.

Hi,
Fans are usually noisy due to a build up of dust that's collected on the fan blades.
The best way to clean them is to get a can of compressed air and give short blasts through the air vents, also turn the laptop upside down and give a couple of blasts the CPU fan grill.
Alternatively you can get a clean, stiff paintbrush to clean the fan blades and blow through the air vents to remove any dust.
The laptop won't get as hot or noisy if you clean the air vents and CPU fan blades regularly.

Regards.

the noise is most likely because the fan has worn out, and would need to be replaced, also its good idea to clean out the dust while its replaced, after the job is done the computer shouldn't be as loud and it should also stay cooler.

Try using Compressed Air in a can by the vents. I would not recommend taking apart the laptop.

Case coling fan is very loud

Hey there Ohio,

There are a few things that cause a normally silent fan to get noisy.

  • Dust building up - Unlikely, but check. Clean if necessary.
  • Some internal wiring brushing against the trailing edge of the fan blades - Likely only if the case was recently opened. Re-open and check, relocate the wiring if necessary.
  • The fan is getting ready to fail - Most likely. Replace the fan. If you have an unused computer, pull a fan out of that one to use. New fans are available for under $20.00 USD .

This replacement is very easy.
  1. Four screws out
  2. Unplug
  3. Remove old fan, put new one in.
  4. Plug in
  5. Four screws in
Don't wait until it fails, though. A cool computer is a happy computer.

Hope this helps,
Mike
