Hand wheel moving needle moving but will not sew cannot release hand wheel to turn in opposite direction

Do NOT turn the handwheel the reverse direction.

If your machine is mechanical, most likely it hasn't been cleaned and oiled for a long time. Old sewing machine dries out and turns to glue which then prevents parts from moving like they should.

How to Oil Vintage Sewing Machine

Tri-Flow Synthetic Lube is very good because it has little teflon beads. It also does not dry out like sewing machine oil will. Then applying heated air from a handheld hairdryer will help loosen it.

Do NOT oil plastic/nylon, cams, or belts.

Hand wheel will only turn a quarter turn and needle barely moves even though smaller hand wheel is tight.

If this is an older mechanical machine (ie, NOT computerized), sounds like it has not been cleaned and oiled in quite some time and the old oil has solidified. DO THIS ONLY IF IT IS A MECHANICAL MACHINE! Consult your owner's manual, get some good quality sewing machine oil (not your grandmother's oil tin, 3-in-1 oil, WD-40, or cooking oil). Start with 1-2 drops of oil each place as directed by the manual. Gently hand-rotate the wheel (do not try to run the motor until the internal mechanics of the machine are moving freely!). To speed things up, direct heated air from a handheld hairdryer into the interior mechanism. You may need to repeat the process every day for a few days before things loosen.

The machine should be oiled every 8 hours of constant sewing, every time a new bobbin is installed, before its use after it has not been used recently, or at least every 6 months if it is in storage.

Hai, I think your machine timing is changed. So you can't sewing properly. Please check the timing and put the oil everyday all oil parts properly.

Problem with my stiching, i cnt stich, my needle is not brocken.when i try to move hand wheel that time needle also should come up n down but my machine needle nit moving plz help

If the needle doesn't move even when you turn the flywheel ( on the end of the machine), you may have a slipped or broken belt.
If you have a mechanical machine, take off the top and look. If it slipped, you can put it back on using a flat screw driver to put it on.
Otherwise, take it to a reputable shop to have it fixed.
Electronic machines MUST be taken to a shop to make sure the warranty stays in force, and if you take it apart, some repair shops won't touch it.

Juki DDL-227 won't spin

:) welcome to the world of industrial machines. The good news is they are typically simple machines.

It is a good habit to take a few minutes to clean and oil your machine before you start sewing. Look for the oil points and give it one drop of quality sewing machine oil in each port.

Now let's try to determine why the hand wheel isn't turning. Loosen and remove the belt from the large reducer wheel under the table to the sewing machine. Try to turn the hand wheel. If it does turn.... Good! If it doesn't turn... we know the problem is in the the machine head and not the wheels below.

Make sure there is no bobbin thread or upper thread. Try to turn the hand wheel again. Anything?

Look carefully at the machine... is the take up lever bent? (personally had this happen with friends helped me move a big machine like this.)

Keep working this way... inspecting the machine until you find the problem. Good luck

Hand wheel won't spin?

Something is binding up inside. Clean and check under the presser foot and bobbin area. Really examine under there... look for threads wrapped around and in between moving parts. Also check in the slot for the take up lever... sometimes threads get balled up inside there can cause problems.

could also be a bent upper arm inside the machine (lets hope not) Get professional help if cleaning doesn't free it up.

I have a singer 603e that I just purchased from an estate sale. I got home and tried to use it, but the take up lever is stuck. How do I fix this?

try some wd 40, spray it on the area of the take up lever & let it set for at least 10 minutes then with the hand wheel on the right hand side slowly move the hand wheel toward you & if it still doesn't move re spray again & wait again then try the hand wheel again to move toward you eventually it should start to break loose if it's just stuck.
since you pruchased it at a estate sale, there not much telling when the machine was serviced last
if the spraying doesn't work, consider having it serviced
