Most programmable thermostats have batteries to keep the program from being lost in a power outage. If you thermostat has dead batteries or no batteries a power outage will cause the thermostat to revert to a default setting and it will have to be reprogrammed. Hope this helps.

The limit switch and the power outage should not be related. However if the switch is not reseting after a 30 degree drop it should be replaced.

If display is on and you cant reset, the board has been damaged during the power outage. The current shoots up over the safe limit and does the damage. need to replace board and put a surge plug on line

If you can connect directly then, the problem is the wrt54g router. Possible problems:
1) Power Outage damaged the router
2) Power Outage reseted the router
