2005 mitsubishi tv

Just bought a new Samsung Blu-ray player, but there is no way to hook it up to my 2005 Mitsubishi tv. Are there any type of adapter cables that would solve this?

I'm assuming that your new blu-ray player only has an HDMI port and your TV does not. In that case, does your tv have a component cable output? This should be five plug-in ports (red, white, red, green, blue). Amazon sells an HDMI to component adapter that you can buy here: http://www.amazon.com/eForCity-538581-HDMI-Cable-5-Feet/dp/B005QWH4QA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1382102257&sr=8-1&keywords=hdmi+to+component+cable

what if the tv only has the 3 component cable ouput -- red/white/yellow -- is there a connection from HDMI port on player to the 3 output on tv?

I'm sure one is out there but there would be no point in hooking up a Blu-ray player using RCA (r/y/w) analog cables. It would be like hooking up a tape deck to a $3,000 Bose surround sound system. Plus, the player is sending out a digital signal while your tv can only support analog. You will need to either buy a new tv or stick with DVD.

SOURCE: Black Bars on all blu ray movies

Hi icmjrtdr,

Having black bars displayed when watching a Blu-Ray disc is a common occurrence, even with a widescreen television.

You may have heard or seen aspect ratios of 4:3 or 16:9. 4:3 is the ratio of a traditional television that is nearly square. 16:9 is the ratio of most widescreen televisions currently marketed. The reason that even with a 16:9 television Blu-Ray discs are displaying black bars is that many of these discs contain footage that has not been reformatted for television. The screen in a movie theater is even wider than 16:9, and rather than trim the ends, most Blu-Ray discs maintain the entire picture.

Depending on the options available in your particular television, you may be able to find a zoom setting that trims the ends and removes the black bars. It is up to you if you would rather see black bars with the entire picture or lose a small amount of the picture on each side for a full-screen experience.

Hope this helps,
Jason,

Hi. I just bought an LG OLED TV and a Samsung UBD-K8500 Blu-Ray player, and can't hook them up.

Get a HDMI cable and use it to connect them. Your TV owners manual will show you a connection diagram.

it could be an HDMI port for connecting HDMI cable. If your DVD player has HDMI output then you can connect it.

or it could be a usb port for playing videos from usb devices like pen drives and portable hard disks

i dont think tv has a phone jack

Yes, you can purchase a cable with the Mitsubishi's DVI terminal on one end an an HDMI terminal on the other, allowing you to connect HDMI Blu-Ray players. I've have the cable for years and it works great.

Mitsubishi 55 in. 1080 series

If I remember correctly, this TV has a couple of constraints that will cramp your style:

1. It supports 480i, 480p and 1080i. NO 720P
2. It has component video inputs, but NO HDMI. (as you stated)

There is no easy solution here, because I've never found an upconverting DVD player that would upconvert anything past 480p using the analog component outputs...

So..

Perhaps you can find an Upconverting BLU-RAY disk player that may allow older DVDs to be upconverted to 1080i via the component outputs.

MOST Blu-Ray players allow 1080i output via the analog connections on Blu-Ray discs, so perhaps there is your solution.

Screen flicker when selecting Blu-Ray player w/ HDMI-1 selected.

Something to remember is that most HDMI setups on TV's have what is called a DVI/HDMI port, I would suggest not using anything on that port that isnot converted from DVI to HDMI. I bet if you look, that HDMI 1 on yours....
