I have a 90 dakota has ran great butthe carb is dumping to much fuel when the gas is pressed and at idle. Will start and idle but put in gear and try to take off and it stalls out any ideas

To clarify, you have fuel injection instead of a carb.
The problem could be a leaking injector, or a problem with the fuel trim including the engine computer.
Is the check engine light on ?

No gas in bubble

Either your fuel line broke and fell off in the tank or your carb is plugged up and needs to be cleaned. The fuel line can be checked by first dumping the fuel out and looking into the tank.
If you see the fuel lines are both intact *(one is long and one is short but both terminate inside the tank) then you probably need to get the carb off and clean it out. Be careful not to use compressed air on the carb as it is delicate. Use a can of carb cleaner only and look into replacing the fuel inlet screen. They come with carb service kits you can buy online for a few bucks.
Be safe and good luck!

Why would i get gasoline in engine oil? engine is a 1968 VW aircooled in stock form. Have changed fuel pump and rebuilt carb. Car willo not start without starting fluid.

I think that the only way that can happen is that fuel is getting past the rings and into the crankcase. You have changed the fuel pump, then that leaves the carb dumping fuel into the intake and getting past the rings. The fuel is not staying in the carb and that is why you have to spray to start.

My 97 classic is smoking at idol, and dumping fuel. Carb has been cleaned and the needleand jets have been changed (we even tried smaller ones). It is dumping too much fuel. When we adjust it, it either...

A plugged Idle Jet will give you an erratic idle (up,down,up,down) and also draw in liquid fuel instead of vapor. The 'O' Ring between the float valve seat and carburetor body and the Float Valve are the only two places the fuel may enter the fuel bowl. If the 'O' Ring or Float Vale is leaking the float cannot regulate the fuel level. To test a fuel pump you will need to test for Pressure and Volume.

Looses its prime and needs gas in carb to start

more than likely you have moisture in the bowl of the carb. best bet would be to completly drain all the fuel from the tank and carb and fuel lines and start off all fresh.

Fuel

Hi ...... Sounds like debris in the carb bowl, tap the bowl with a wooden hammer shaft and check to see if it's helped. If not switch off petrol at tank and drain carb. Retry switching on. If that fails take bottom of carb off and check float hasn't split .......... never seen one that has in over 30 years.
Let us know how you get on.
